"I wouldn't mind staying here the rest of my career." Right.
He's a great player but every team has good to great pgs in this league and the Celtics have pretty much no leverage here. They won't get equal value in return for Rondo. He's no Kevin Love and is coming off an subpar injury season. The Celtics are probably to settle for couple picks and expiring contract.
If I were the Cavs, I'd trade Irving for Rondo. That'd complete a true trio instead of two and half. Or perhaps the Heat should trade for him
. That'd be funny. The Kings probably aren't going to end up with Rondo no matter how much they offer. Rondo says re-signing will not happen with the Kings.
This offseason is a busy one. Shit load happens and still more to come.

if the cavs got rondo it would be fucking sick. they wont get him but if they did, holy shit
i agree though, the celtics missed the window on trading him. i dont personally think he is worse than love though, when he has the right players he is deadly and his defense is great for anyone. at the same time i wont agree that he is better than love either. the wolves only got so much for love because lebron wanted him now.
i think its pretty clear to everyone though that his days in boston are numbered

CUBAN/DONNIE NELSON DO YOUR MAGIC!!!
Mon Sep 01, 2014 5:48 pm
no team is as desperate as the cavs were to get love
So they can keep Ellis as well?
Rondo-Ellis-Parsons-Nowitzki-Chandler.
sauru leave them Celtics
Mon Sep 01, 2014 6:12 pm
Why should the Celtics do a Rondo for Nelson trade?
Mavs would be stupid to trade Rondo for Ellis and lack other options as they simply have no real assets they want to part ways with.
Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:10 pm
Would be heartbreaking to see Rondo out of Boston. C'mon Allen, you started this shizz.

I like how you guys are raving about Rondo's value when claimed there wouldn't be no Kevin Love taker so it's a done deal that the Cavaliers can pick him up for free at the end of the season.
The Celtics are the team that have no real leverage here. Rondo is older and likely wants to go to a contender(possibly a big market too). He seeks also the money but he's coming off an incomplete disappointing season. There's more concern with Rondo than Love. There is just much less demand for Rondo besides the point that legit bigs are much harder to get than capable pgs. Love also has reportedly agreed to sign a 5-year, $120 million contract extension with Cleveland as part of the deal. That made much easier to swallow loss of potential franchise star because Love already is one in prime and you get to keep him for 5-6 guaranteed years. Teams that wish to acquire Rondo will similarly want some form of promise note. Otherwise giving up real assets won't happen. Celtics would be lucky to get .50 cents out of dollar in Rondo trade. Which real contender do need a PG and is willing to gamble on a player who just had his worst season in his career? That team also has to be a team that Rondo likes. Asking price will be low to moderate realistically. Teams can low ball all they want, for Rondo who still somewhat carries a tag that he's a product of Allen/Pierce/KG trio.
I'd say Mavericks, Knicks, and Rockets are definitely going to low ball offer. None of them has much to offer but prolly bunch of picks.

He could go to Sacramento, but he won't resign (unless they start winning games more often then he might extend his tenure there but that is very unlikely though)

ESPN sources say Celtics & Mavs in substantive discussions on deal that would send Rajon Rondo to Dallas for multiple picks/package of vets
Story going online details Celtics/Mavs talks in which Boston would get at least one first and blossoming center Brandan Wright for Rondo
Celtics ARE talking to other teams -- most notably Knicks and Kings -- but sources say most serious Rondo talks to date are with Mavericks
I don't want Brandon Wright gone
Thu Dec 18, 2014 8:01 pm
It'd be a shame for the Mavericks if they lose Wright, but Rondo would be hard to pass up.
Thu Dec 18, 2014 8:59 pm
The Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets have engaged with the Boston Celtics on Rajon Rondo trade talks.
The Celtics have engaged on several fronts on Rondo with the Mavericks showing an increased interest. The Mavericks have a clear need at point guard.

What's wrong with you?
You don't want a legit all-star PG that the team desperately needs and can contribute on both ends of the floor for a player, though consistently efficient, is not really physically equipped to handle more minutes as a PF or C who's on the final year of his contract and would probably demand a big payday and end up being overpaid like Chandler Parsons?

Dallas will still have Greg Smith and Charlie Villanueva. They'll be fine.

Not so fast. The Lakers are allegedly offering multiple picks and Steve Nash. LoL Jeremy Lin further screwed. I can't envision Kobe/Rondo working out too well either.

Shut up, James Harden won't be playing as good as he is if he is not going to the line every game.

Rondo would rather pass the ball than shoot while Kobe would rather shoot than pass, they fit perfectly.
They've also been spotted eating breakfast together when the Lakers visited the Celtics.

I bet Rondo passed the bill to Kobe and the bill ended up missing or turned over.
Fri Dec 19, 2014 9:10 am
HOLY SHIT
Fri Dec 19, 2014 9:14 am
Rondo, Ellis, Parsons, Nowitzki, Chandler is a pretty mean 5 on the floor. Dallas has gotta hope Tyson stays healthy come playoff time. Gotta imagine they'll try and acquire some more small puzzle pieces and role players and try and make a run in the West.

Am I the only one who thinks this might hurt Dallas and turn Boston into a reluctant playoff team? Rondo has been really bad this year, and might be an offensive downgrade from Meerkat. Furthermore, Brandan Wright has been the best reserve in the league this season.
Still will be fun to watch! I love big trades.
Fri Dec 19, 2014 9:40 am
Rondo's been bad because of the supporting cast.
The Rondo/Kobe breakfast was a known thing
http://www.sbnation.com/2014/12/5/73435 ... -breakfastAt this point I'd rather Rondo move on, compete, get paid big $$$, and go into full blown rebuild mode without him and focus on Smart.
Fri Dec 19, 2014 11:13 am
We've seen what Rondo can do on a quality team. If you're the Mavericks, this was a deal you couldn't pass up. As bigh0rt said, that's a fine starting five for them to run with.

I think it heavily depends on how he fits in with Ellis because Ellis does take away bit of ball handler's space as well. It's probably best to couple Rondo with somebody like Korver(like Ray Allen) who can move well without the ball in his hands. You already got Parsons whose role can be compared to Paul Pierce, then Dirk who is KG with better distance less defence. Then there is Tyson who can work beautifully with traditional style PGs. I think there's good chance Rondo could work really well as long as Ellis and he can co-exist.
As for Rondo being pretty bad this year, he actually has been pretty good outside of his poor shooting % in which he doesn't take too many anyway. He's still capable.
http://www.boxscoregeeks.com/players/co ... eason=2014(I know some of you are allergic to geeks stats but) The stats from the link confirms what we know already. Rondo's still great at finding guys and doing things exceptionally well in what other PGs normally aren't good at. He's always been valuable in his unique ways. Notice the Mavericks have many good to great shot takers. Rondo shouldn't hinder their usage too much(except for Ellis, I think he's a better 6th man with Rondo on the team) while tightening things bit more on defensive end. Thus imho his all around game benefits the Mavericks.
As for Wright, he is great but more or less, you have to agree with Brawn Shitley above. There's a ceiling to his game and for the Mavericks and they aren't getting to that next level unless take on chances.

rondo is not a player to carry a team which is why he has been bad. he is a player that enhances what others can do. he can go back to driving and dishing and just taking it all the way, he is a huge upgrade for dallas. i am actually happy to see him to go the mavs, will be fun to watch and the celtics need to bottom out
