lebron lookin' good

Thu Oct 30, 2003 2:04 pm

I thought he might of struggle early on but he has came out aggressive and is living up to the hype so far..he is even sharing the ball like when he waited on Ricky Davis to give him the points.

Thu Oct 30, 2003 2:12 pm

12 points already in the 1st quarter wow, he is looking gooood

Thu Oct 30, 2003 2:21 pm

not looking the way he was in Preseason....he looks ready (y)

Thu Oct 30, 2003 3:07 pm

Already 18 pts with a sweet left hander... I am in Cleveland and this glorious, too bad he is all the way across the country. He better watch out for the fires.

Thu Oct 30, 2003 3:54 pm

wow, 25pts (12-19) 9 ast and 5 reb and still 3:53 to go

Thu Oct 30, 2003 4:02 pm

Not bad for a first game! And they almost won Two point lead early 4th. But damn! he changed that team in one game. Diop played hard, Davis played semi-smart. D-Miles still sucks but WOW. Most impressed by Diop and James... Diop playing the most minutes in his career probably and played hard blocked shots and rebounded.

But 25 pts. 9 assists WOW

Not a bad debut game for an "overrated" rookie teenager... :o

Thu Oct 30, 2003 6:13 pm

Did he make a jumpshot?

Thu Oct 30, 2003 7:52 pm

As I said in another thread, perhaps he will exceed the lower expectations, and average at least 18/19, 5 and 5. A great debut though, but I still think it will be a tough season for Cleveland.

Thu Oct 30, 2003 8:05 pm

After seeing him play...I got only 2 words about lebron...next jordan

..but only better...like when jordan was called the next Dr. J..but he was better.

Thu Oct 30, 2003 9:26 pm

I didnt see the game except some highlights, but his stats were great for a NBA debute game. But then again....he may struggle in other games so its still way to early to say ROY or next Jordan blabla

Heheh... once he accomplished and then exceeds what MJ did on the court(like what mike did to dr j's and everyone elses) then ill agree he is better then mike.. but untill then, no.

Very impressive debut by the Bron but I have to take Andrew's word that there are still 81 games left for him to show what he is in the NBA.

Man, that first breakaway dunk and that assist to Davis for the slammer were real good.

I take back any and every bad thing I ever said about Lebron, he was amazing, and I do feel he's alot better than people think he is... But he still has a long & tiring 81 more games to go!

You know there is one thing that separates Lebron from all the other past high-schoolers (like KG, Kobe, T-Mac & A.I.)? Other than the fact physically, he's already a man... It's because Lebron James is a little bit of MJ, and a little bit of Magic!

The fact that Lebron James loves to pass, dish out assists and set up / make his teammates better is a major plus! Any other highschooler or young upcoming star, is, or usually would be all about scoring, crossovers and fancy dunks; just to put on a show!

Lebron does that, but at the right time! I mean to see Lebron who was wide open on a break, all by himself... he could have went and did a showtime dunk; but rather.... he stopped and gave the ball to Ricky Davis! When I saw that, I knew that this kid was different from any other young nba rookie, and I know he is going to surpass alot of expectations, and he's going to make Cleveland, a much better team!

8-9 assists and 1 or 2 turnovers? For someone straight out of HS that was a great debut.

What really impressed me was his maturity and unselfishness. I think he's one of those rare players who can really make those around him play better. I wonder why he's being asked to bring the ball up though...

Fri Oct 31, 2003 3:03 am

Well..people must understand...i'm into the lebron hype :oops:For the love of the game...i'd like to see another mega super great player.

Who else do you think should? J.R. Bremer?

He's like Magic mixed with Michael Jordan.

By the way during the Bulls Run.. Michael and Scottie brought the ball up.

Like Antoine Walker in Boston, the best creator brings it up and gets thing started.

There is too much emphasis on positions, on the court it's not like that really, Jason Kidd is a great Point Guard that has been bringing it up and running the team, but it's not a formula, in Los Angeles I think Payton will bring it up and run the point very well, but again Kobe will bring it up court as well, because he won't turn it over.

The other night Walker was running the point and bringing it up for Dallas and they have Steve Nash, but he can't see as well and probably isn't as good of a creator as Walker. (by the way I don't miss Walker in Boston, it was time to try something else.)

well i for one will give my apologies to Mr.James as i thought he was going to be so so overrated but i was wrong... the kid got game and that was playing against the kings!!! wonder what he will b like against the knicks..lol great first outing hope he can follow it up with a strong season, for the leagues and every basketball fan out there.

Fri Oct 31, 2003 10:54 am

aw man i can't even imagine knicks vs. cavs...ward, easily, and williams will all have a hard time vs. him, and so will houston...anderson might be the only 1 that can slow him down but then ricky davis is going to go nuts

sphinx wrote:Did he make a jumpshot?

The vast majority of his shots were jumpshots, or pull-up shots in the lane. I can think of 4 shots he took that weren't jumpshots.

Fri Oct 31, 2003 3:35 pm

he is doing great tonight vs suns, 17 points, 12 boards, 6 assists, but also has 6 turnovers

Fri Oct 31, 2003 3:41 pm

I reckon the 6 assists and 2 steals outweigh the 6 turnovers. Also, make that 19 points at the end of the 3rd.

Fri Oct 31, 2003 4:21 pm

Another strong performance by LeBron, a near triple double with 21 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. A great start to his career, he's averaging 23 ppg, 8.5 apg, 9 rpg, 2.5 spg and shooting 54% from the field.

I doubt he'll maintain that standard for 82 games, but he's not struggling as some expected.

Fri Oct 31, 2003 4:32 pm

Yea it's doubtful he'll maintain that standard but its not impossible. He's good..but he's still just a rookie...he'll tire out eventually. However, i expect him to be consistant with those kinda numbers from next season or so.
