Yup. Last season too, Tyson Chandler was on a second team while he's won the dpoy award.

Pretty good selections for the most part, though it feels kind of silly to have the Defensive Player of the Year in the second team and I'd have put Duncan in the first team ahead of Ibaka. Still, there's no one there that should in no way, shape or form be there, so I'd say the teams are more or less on the money.

Chandler over Gasol? Ibaka over Duncan? Paul over Conley?

Kobe, Mike James, Faried and Tony Parker getting 1st Team votes? REALLY?

Where's Iguodala? What's Paul doing there? Or Ibaka, for that matter? This year, I'm not so sure about LeBron either.

Those selections get more and more ridiculous yearly. How can people who make a living off basketball be so bad at this?

I know. How do we explain these awards then (and Kobe being on the 1st team for the previous decade)? Coaches are supposed to know who is really a good defender and who just has good reputation or steal/block numbers. Then again, Tony Parker for example doesn't have either and somebody was still genius enough to vote him for the 1st team. If I remember correctly, Carlos Boozer got a vote last year.

It's not perfect but this year's selections weren't too bad. And there are always people who don't take their voting rights seriously anyways. I honestly don't know what's worse, hype-maker media or uninterested coaches.

They at least they got 4 out 6 right on the first team imo. Debatable? Ofc. It's defense.

I was happy to see Noah get recognized for his defensive efforts, I think he could of won DPotY to be honest if he stayed healthy.

That coaches aren't necessarily any smarter or more informed than fans or even those in the media. A lot of them do get fired for performance reasons every year.

Also, horse trading.

Allen should have been DPOY, LeBron shouldn't be on either team.

While we all can rave about how great Allen and Gasol are monsters defensively, here's something to talk about.

Allen/Gasol vs George/Hibbert
Pacers Def Rtg: 99.8 (1st of 30)
Grizzlies Def Rtg: 100.3 (2nd of 30)

And people should stop crying about LBJ. He's been the best defender on a very solid defensive team and that's with Bosh in center who couldn't rebound jack and allowed bunch of nobodies like Vucevic, and Henson to consistently have career games. Now let's not forget how much significantly more he had to play at the 4 this season, expanding his defensive territory.

LeBron could be a lot better, you can't go 6 games without a foul if you're a great defender.

Something like that. Superstar treatment in general, at the other end of the floor.

Well the league can't deny that superstars are some of their most valuable assets. So it definetly would make sense for the NBA to give them a special treatment.

When will you finally accept that Vucevic is one of the best rebounders in the league? The only thing he might profit from is the fact that Orlando does not shoot very well.

And the Heat becoming noticeably worse on defense than last year. The previous season they were often winning with their defense, this season it's been their offense. They're still above league average on the defensive end, but we're talking about 1st Team All-D here. Besides, I'm not "crying", I'm just not convinced at all about LeBron being there this season. There were more deserving guys for that spot, but it's not a complete travesty like Bryant or Paul.

The Heat were a very solid defensive team. It got worse from last season as there was a tradeoff, but defense still held together. That's with LBJ as a clearcut best defensive player and anchor. It wasn't even close. He was the best rebounder, on ball defender, and a stopper. I don't see too many qualifiers defensively whom you can place in the same rank maybe other than Paul George. Does Paul George have a strong case? Yes. Was he the clearcut best player defensively on his own team? Maybe or maybe not because of Hibbert. Compared to the Bulls, the Pacers perimeter defense is known to gives up more middle lane and rely on their bigs to stop their opponent. It's not really a rocket science to see LBJ still holds his ground as one of the best interchangeable defenders in the league. It's always a coin toss between these top defenders anyways. The term 'not deserving' doesn't really belong to this class.

Novu stop eating LeBrons banana. He is a great defender but isn't deserving of a first team. Chris Paul is a really bad defender who likes to play passing lanes, go for steals, hence screwing up the possesion.
