An impressive peformance, without a doubt. However, I'd have to disagree with some of the suggestions I've been seeing that this makes them better than the Dream Team, because "the Dream Team never did this".

Of course not, since that would've required the game being tied at the end of regulation.

Oh yes andrew i forgot about that lol, i was phased by the fact they scored 150+ points in 4 quarters, usually in nba that doesnt happen unless its triple overtime :D

This would be really hard to pull off even in a video game

it's not that Nigeria was bad, they did score 73 points and Ike Diogu was a beast, but USA was abusing the closer 3-point line.

It was really a great game to watch. Only two things I have to complain about. First is the defense. LeBron for example sometimes just waited at half court to start the offense. Defense was something the Dream Team took much more serious. Second was Westbrooks ball handling. He played bad passes... a lot off...

Yeah, when you're up by 40+ points, shooting 71% from the floor and 63% from three, there's no excuse for not getting back on defense. I say send them home immediately and forfeit the rest of the games. In four years, let's send some players who don't shamefully take plays off. And who are 35 years of age or older only!

At least they wouldn't forget their jerseys.

LBJ not playing defense, was also during the first quarter before they led by 40. ;)
Defense was an issue too during the first half against Tunisia.
But I agree that in general, Team USA does have enough firepower for not having to play defense at all...

It's definitely doable in a video game, especially on the easiest difficulty setting. It's a fair comparison though, the numbers are certainly video game-esque.

Now I'm hearing these media loudmouths wanting to change the rules because it's not fair the U.S.A. is whipping ass. Man, FUCK THAT SHIT! No one feels bad for us when we lose at other sports. Why mess with basketball just because our pros are the best in the world? Please.

How is it fair when the US gets to send 12 NBA All-Stars when other countries can only send two or three? And some countries can't send any at all.

The Olympics are about global pride and human equality, not nationalism and savage pursuit of victory. We should be striving for an equal distribution of gold medals across populations. And historically, the U.S.'s lead in all medals is an incredibly uneven distribution. It's time for the rest of the world to taste victory until they catch up.

It's not that much closer. It's basically right in that 'never shoot from here under any circumstances' range in the NBA, so I'm not entirely sure that's the best explanation for their shooting percentages.

Loved LeBron throwing a three-quarter-court overhead pass while falling out of bounds, hitting Kobe in stride between two defenders, and John Amaechi almost immediately claiming that the US 'hasn't done anything all that spectacular yet.'

Well yeah, but that doesn't mean it's 'not all that spectacular.' I don't much care about LeBron, but the insinuation is that when I make super-awesome passes like that, it's no big deal, and that offends me.

Isn't this unheard of? I say 2012 team USA is guilty of drugs. That should explain this historical performance.

Dude, your last two sentences are way out there. You're never going to have an even distribution of talent. What should the U.S do, not send our best until the rest of the world catches up? Ridiculous. It not something the U.S should worry about.

it was incredible look at melo he only played 14 minutes and made 37 points and 10 of 12 from downtown and the record of 3 pointers before that game was 13??!!! cmon if melo would have played more he would have beaten that record by his own as a single player   and what is also incredible is that the scored these 156 points in 4 quartes imagine in the nba they play 12 minutes a quarter and in the olympics only 10 that are 8 minutes less of basketball so what happened if they played a 48 minute game does anybody think that they could have topped the 200 mark??? its incredible

Lol. Kobe's gonna think twice next time before making a statement like that. Seems like it'll linger in people's mind for a looong time.

The ball would have needed to be falling a lot for them to get to 200... I'm not sure they could have sustained that kind of pace. However, if you give them 10 goes at it, I'm sure they could reach 200 at least once!
