Your Favourite Player (Past or Present) To Watch

My favourite player to watch has changed from time to time, but I think the most consistent one out there is probably prime Ray Allen. He was just a nasty scorer who could get his shot off wherever he wanted. He also had surprising athleticism and could throw it down pretty well too.

Also now that I think about it, Sam Cassell is a player that I tended to watch very closely as well. He wasn't a very athletic player, but he was very crafty in the post and that mid range pull up from the top of the circle was one of my favourite moves ever. My brother and I would take turns bricking pull up jumpers one on one because we both loved his mid range game.

In the current NBA I love watching Kevin Durant. When the game is on the line he always seems to bail his team out with some sort of absurd three pointer. His dunks always catch me off guard because of how freakishly lanky he is and what I expect to be a layup usually turns out to be a poster on someone.

Michael Jordan still remains my all-time favourite player to watch, as well as my all-time favourite player, but in terms of current players my favourites include LeBron, Durant, Rose and Nash.

Andrew, I would've said MJ as well, but i never saw him play. Growing up i watched the early 2000's guys. Its sad i missed out on the early 90's

I didn't really get into basketball until 3 years ago, so I haven't seen much but highlights of all these legends. But my current favorite player to watch is Ricky Rubio. I didn't follow him until I watched his first NBA game against the Thunder and I loved what I saw from him. His passes are insane.

Rubio definitely is shaping up to be quite a fun player to watch. Here's hoping that he, Lin, Shumpert and Rose all make full recoveries from their knee injuries. Last season wasn't a good year for guards and their ACLs.

It's certainly hard to go past Michael Jordan or Hakeem. I moreso appreicate Hakeem now for his technical ability; some of his post moves were incredible. David Robinson was a favourite of mine as well.

In today's game, I like watching Andre Miller, Dirk Nowitzki and Blake Griffin.

No kidding. As a Heat fan, I was really disappointed when Rose tore his ACL because I was looking forward to another series against Chicago. The Bulls winning without Rose against us would have added another layer of intrigue for me.

I'd have to add Blake Griffin to the list too. He gets a bit of hate these days because the NBA does shove him down everyone's throats on the official YouTube channel, but I'd say he's right up there with all the great dunkers that have been fun to watch throughout the years.

Andre Miller is probably how I'd play basketball if I was 40 and had a few too many Reese peanut buttercups throughout the years.

Also I enjoy Blake Griffin's highlights, but I cannot watch him for the entire game. He always seems to be flopping and tends to complain to the officials a bit too much for my liking. I've only watched a handful of Clippers games but I tend to get a very poor impression of him.

But for now that would be the "Black Mamba" Kobe Bryant and the rest of his crew.

Past - Peja Stojakovic, when he played in Staples he always seemed to quiet the crowd.

Present - Steph Curry, I like his craftiness with the ball and his almost perfect shooting stroke. And he almost makes everything look so easy, unfortunately he's got ankles made out of paper.

In the past I really like to watch Nash, Stoudemire, Marion and their teammates because they are very fun and exciting to watch. But now I like to watch KD and Kobe because their moves are just amazing.

Ever since the '93 Finals I can't say anything else but MJ. Pippen was exciting too. And talkin' 'bout the good ole days I have to mention Chuck.
From today's players I would pick Kevin Love. Not that exciting but he works his a** off on the boards and shots the ball very well...

I started watching/following the NBA around 2006 so the only "past" player i could think of that I enjoyed watching is Steve Francis, Vince Carter (when he was still dunking and scoring in New Jersey and not the corpse in Dallas) and Allen Iverson. Steve Francis would be the modern day Westbrook, Carter is Carter and Iverson doesn't practice and makes his team better but I like to watch him anyways.

As for present players Dirk Nowitzki tops the list with Nash, Rondo, Rose and Rubio.

lol, It's funny that you name off two superstars, one of the best up and coming point guards in the league and then Thabo Sefolosha. Thabo is so cringe worthy to watch. I can enjoy a solid defensive oriented role player myself, but it seems like an eternity since I've seen him make an uncontested jump shot.

This is an easy one. MJ from the past. He was rarely frustrating to watch, except for his end days of career as a Wizard. Kobe once was fun to watch when he was with Shaq. But he turned out to be no Jordan, not even close.

In today's league, I would say LeBron James is certainly the fun one to watch if you are a Heat fan. He does everything on the court regardless what position he gets to play. From PG to C, he's a complete package. We probably won't see this kind of talent in this generation again. Though he's not my favorite player, he is certainly one of my all time favorites to watch.

Also Wade, when he's on, he's spectacular.

In the past, watching Bird is always a treat, but Pierce's 'bag of tricks' is always entertaining currently.

For highlights though, Blake wins.

Chris Andersen was really fun to watch during the 08-09 season... I suppose he'd be a past player now though, since I don't think it's likely he'll be back in the NBA (at least in the foreseeable future. I hope I'm wrong).

That's what I like about his game. He's interesting to watch despite the fact he's not athletic or even a good shooter. Some of those alley oops he helped create were ridiculous too.

In addition to MJ, I should mention that a lot of the other past greats that have been brought up - Magic, Bird, Pippen, Shaq, Barkley, Rodman, Hakeem, etc - they're all on my list too.

Tim Duncan's another one I'd have to add to my list. He's not known for flair of course, though he will break out a big dunk or something every once in a while, but his fundamentally sound play is still fun to watch. His insane use of the glass is probably the most entertaining aspect of his game, though. He's got to be one of the best all-time when it comes to bank shots and the angles he makes them from are ridiculous.
