Trying to rebound from the disappointment of their failed pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, the New Jersey Nets have agreed to a blockbuster trade with the Utah Jazz for Deron Williams, sources said on Wednesday.

The Nets will send Derrick Favors and Devin Harris to Utah for the All-Star point guard.

The deal, scheduled for completion later Wednesday after a trade call with the league office, would also involve the Golden State Warriors and bring multiple draft picks to Utah.

Kinda pointless for the Nets IMO since Deron is probably just going to sign elsewhere after this season.

They have Deron through next season. If there is one... Shocking move but it does make a lot of sense for both teams.

Williams still has another year left, he won't be eligible for extension yet (will be in the summer). This really came out of the blue.

I wonder what the Nets have planned next, because you can't win with just Deron, Lopez and Kris Kardashian.

Even if they got LeBron, they probably wouldn't be able to make up the 9 games they are behind 8th place.

If Williams doesn't resign with nets then i'd say its a better deal for jazz, as they get two 1st rounders, Favors and Harris.

Did I miss something? I thought Williams had a contract til the 12/13 campaign.

Deron was never going to stay in Utah so deal makes sense for Jazz.

Never thought Deron would be traded. But I wonder what happens to Derrick Favors? He won't be averaging the 20 MPG he had in New Jersey, with Paul Millsap above him in the lineup.

Jazz fail? Why do you think that? I think utah god a bundle in this trade. Two first round draft picks, the draft might be strong when they use those picks. Devin Harris is going to have to pass the ball more to the big guys though, I think the jazz got the better end of deal, at least if they're rebuilding for the future. But i'd still rather have Deron on my team than Harris.

Great trade for Utah, acquiring some picks and two good players. I don't know if its a good trade for the Nets as it was reported that Williams is unhappy about the trade.

Thats a terrible fucking article, it says almost nothing about deron being unhappy or whatever.

Honestly, i like this for the nets. Harris had plateaued and while Favors is solid, he's not lighting up the league or anything. Also, they're gonna make back anything they lost in Jersey sales. Deron probly will like the bigger market etc.
