MRI reveals stress fracture in Yao's left ankle

Postby Martti. on Fri Dec 17, 2010 6:18 am

Official release -- An MRI performed today on Rockets center Yao Ming revealed a stress fracture of the Medial Malleolus in his left ankle. The fracture, which is related to his previous injury of the Tarsal Navicular bone, presented itself during the course of his current rehabilitation program. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

The team will have no additional comment at this time. Information regarding his treatment program will be made available at a later date.

There goes another season. :facepalm2:

Yao, Oden, and Roy should start some sort of foundation for NBA players.

Wow, how heatbreaking. (N) So I guess another season of struggling to stay at .500 is in store for us. Well, at least we still have Aaron Brooks' return to look forward to.

I wonder if Yao will retire in the near future as he said he might if he can't stay healthy.

Again, bad news for Yao and the Rockets.

Hard to believe he might retire.

Even that seems to be a while away.

It wouldn't surprise me, indeed I'd say it's close to being a given. It's a real shame, as it is he had a good career and was a top centre in the league for a few years while he was healthy, but if not for the injuries he could've done so much more. You hate to see a player's career end on those terms but for his own wellbeing it might be time to call it a day. Good on him for giving it one more shot this season though, assuming he is indeed done for good.

Hoopsworld.com is already calling Yao's Nov. 7 game his last NBA game. At least let Yao announce whether he'll go into retirement or not first.

I agree that it's his call to make, but sadly it may not be an inaccurate prediction.

Shocking news. Good news for Rockets fans though. It's time to move on from Yao.

I smell something weird at this. It's not an injury. Someone wants to destroy Yao. That's it.

On-Yao: Fuck-fuck-fuck. When will it end Yao?

....So you're saying there's someone conspiring to end Yao's career by promoting a fake injury? That's logical, it did happen to Nancy Kerrigan, so Tanya Harding is probably involved.

On a lighter note, here's Yao's quote on the whole thing:
RotoWorld wrote:A course of action is expected to be announced on Monday, and Yao is trying to remain optimistic about his future. "I haven't died," he said on Thursday. "Right now I'm drinking a beer and eating fried chicken. What were you expecting, a funeral?"

Lol, still laughing on Yao's quote  But yeah, IMO it's over for him. He had a nice career while it lasted.

I think that he was a great player on the court but his influence has been off of it. He still is an ambassador for basketball and sport. And I see him as one of the nicest guys in the NBA. :)

The load/burden he carried since entering the NBA because of China's preparation for the 2008 Olympics has not been on anyone's shoulders before.

Heartbreaking for us. :facepalm2: It really sucks when you see your star player these past years go down with various injuries. Such a pain in the ass.

Still,  :bowdown2: :bowdown2:   :bowdown2: :bowdown2: on Yao's quote.
