Just found
this online. Read a few profiles (i.e. Odom and Bogut). They're up to 28 now. Will post later with some thoughts.
Feel free to discuss.

Stupid, as always.

Ray Allen = 50

Also, I think I remember you ranking players in the past based on statistics. You able to have a stab at it here?

We've all done stupid things.
Tue Sep 28, 2010 3:39 pm
Jesus Christ. Rudy Gay may not even be 28th best SF in the league.
Tue Sep 28, 2010 4:41 pm
Brandon Jennings > Bogut apparently.

It seems more like a Top 50 Popularity List.
Tue Sep 28, 2010 5:07 pm
No, it seems more like a "god we're fucking idiots let's have a bunch of people write completely brain dead columns that don't even make sense let alone explain the players ranking for 50 players and then we'll just throw them up in some order either based on how hard they make us to watch them cross people over and throw down dunks on youtube clips from some offseason charity street ball event or just randomly" List.
I mean, unless they actually posted how they decided to rank the players for the first time ever.
Grizzlies have three top 50 players and won't make the playoffs again this season. Warriors had two top 40 players last season and couldn't crack 30 wins.

DIFINITIVE. Now shut your whore mouths!
In all seriousness I've always enjoyed reading Slam, it's good for scoop on prep athletes and stuff like that, and the stories they do write are entertaining.

Steve Nash at 22?
and Parker at 15?
He's good analyzing the NBA....
Wed Sep 29, 2010 6:34 am
I'm pretty sure I saw Tony Parker and Lamar Odom on there twice.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:46 am
If Vince Carter is anywhere near the top 10, I'm breaking shit.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:48 am
Don't worry. He's not. But Duncan's above Dirk. That's good enough a reason to break shit.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:04 am
Why is that? Duncan is arguably a little better than Dirk.
Wed Sep 29, 2010 10:34 am
I think that's last year's list?
Duncan having a better career than Dirk is a no-brainer, but I'm not going to believe that Duncan is better than Dirk at this moment. Though it's arguable, and obviously I'm biased as hell.

You guys realize that if you keep hitting "previous" you get into last years list right?

Not now, he isn't. He's nowhere near his talent 5-10 years ago. Dirk is arguably the second-best PF in the NBA right now. Not old Timmy.

I'm gonna play a little Vitale here...
If I'm competing for the championship, I want Duncan on my team not Dirk.
Thu Sep 30, 2010 9:48 am
I'd go Dirk over Duncan, unless I was living five years in the past.
Thu Sep 30, 2010 10:02 am
Comes down to who is on the team. If its your go to guy, then both ways I don't see the team winning. Neither of them are good enough, but in that situation I'd be more inclined to take Dirk. As a 2nd or 3rd banana, I'd still take Duncan.
Just looking at their stats in the playoffs, Dirk only scored 7 more points a game - other than that at FT% they were pretty similar. (in basic stats anyway Benji...) Duncan probably still has better defence.

And now it's time for me to needlessly defend Dirk!
Has he ever had a real 'Robin' since he became the guy after 03-04? I haven't seen it. An aging Mike Finley/Jerry Stackhouse combo? Josh Howard? Caron Butler? He's never had the chance.

Maybe so, but he still hasn't proven anything. Excuses are like assholes...

If the Mavericks were smart enough, they'd put Caron Butler on the bench and start Shawn Marion.
