Atleast in my opinion....

http://www.nba.com/games/20081230/BOSPOR/gameinfo.html

Having lost 3 of their last 4 games; including this loss to a Roy-less Portland tonight it's obvious they aren't that great defensively. Teams that are hot from the 3 or mid-range give them problems...even the warriors got um. Running the zone most of the time only works on one dimensional slashing/half court teams. The cavaliers and the lakers both can kill you from the inside and outside...so I doubt we'll be seeing a repeat championship for this geriatric team. At this point..no one can say for sure who is better between the cavs/lakers/celtics ....but I doubt it's the celtics.

A pic from tonight's Portlan-Boston game (not mine). I lol`d.¸

Apparently, Portland played with 6 players for a whole possession. The Celtics were trying to protest it during the play to no avail, and it resulted in a basket scored for the Blazers  . They called a tech afterwards, but the basket scored by the Blazers still counted.

Its a long season, they have more than enough time to get back to playing like the contenders they are. I just hope the Cavaliers don't beat them in team record. :(

They may have lost three of their last four, but they've also one twenty one of their last twenty four including a nineteen game winning streak. The Lakers lost two in a row last week, the Cavaliers lost to the Heat today, even the best teams drop some games that they shouldn't. That's not to say the Celtics don't have some issues or that they're guaranteed to repeat but I wouldn't call a team that recently won nineteen in a row is unravelling just because they've come up short in their last few games.

Well it worked last year. I love it how you say no one can say for sure who is better. What is the point in making a thread about the topic then? Is it so when you get your arse kicked you can say "nobody knows for sure who is better"

We all know you made this thread to serve your erection for Lebron.

It's a long season, plenty of time for the Celtics to make adjustments.

A lot of teams will cool off after big starts.

Yeah, usually there's ten.

But the Blazers made the play and got the W, so it was worth it.

On the Celtic side, I'm sure that Doc Rivers understands based on those three games that some changes have to be made strategy-wize against these kind of teams. They will manage to hold on to the 1st seed in the East only if they learn from their mistakes and put the L's behind them and continue to play one game at a time. That's what they were doing before losing to the Lakers. I suppose that the loss to the Lakers messed up their concentration and they underestimated some of the upcoming opponents.
Give respect, get respect.

Too much of this "the Celtics don't have it anymore" articles/opinions in the internets.
It's basically a knee-jerk reaction to their losing streak.
Better for the problems to surface in the team now (if there are problems) than in the playoffs. I don't want the Celtics to be the same as the Patriots of last year. Dominating the season but losing when it really counts.

70 wins should be out of discussion soon for any top teams this year. I'm just glad to see Oden finally playing well. 3 steals and 0 blocks. That's a point guard stats right there.

Lucky for the Celtics that Cleveland also lost today though. For Boston fans, at least, that's gotta be a good news.

It just seems to me that they have a problem with jump shooting teams. Unraveling might be a strong word (attention grabber) but they definitly don't seem like some untouchable powerhouse anymore. Losing 3 out of four is something I didn't expect out of them.

No one is untouchable. You could say that the '96 Bulls had a problem with new teams in the league
19-game winning streak and they're aiming for 70+. 3 lost games in the past week and now they suck.

As a blazer fan most of the times i am not good at telling who is sucking on the other team as much as i pay attention to who is sucking on my team in a game. But Big Fatty Davis was amazingly getting nutted on by the blazer bigs. it was so funny to see him try move his fat butt around

You implied it by pretty much saying they are doomed because they lost 3 out of 4.

Once again, your entire first post was nothing more then a jack off to Lebron and the Cavs. Get a poster or something.

It's a relatively easy schedule for Boston up until they meet the rockets on the 7th of january. Although their next game against the wizards might be interesting considering they are a team that currently lives and dies with their outside shooting. Also, I'm anxious to see how this team will play out once they face some of the tougher teams then and towards the end of the month.

Glen Davis to me is a bit overrated. He's obviously a passionate player and I guess he tends to excite the boston garden crowd...but Imo he doesn't bring much more than that.

You could say that about any team. Any team can beat any team on any given night (an example of that is the expansion Raptors beating the Bulls in the 95/96 season)

I think you should be more anxious about how Cleveland will fair against tougher teams. They're the team that's had the easiest schedule out of themselves, Celtics and Lakers. Do they even have a winning record against teams over .500?

And don't worry, I don't expect you to respond to this. And you call me the troll. Excuse me while I jack off to anime.

Nobody, but I get the feeling some people would say it if they lose another game. You said that they're not that great defensively because teams that are hot from 3-land or mid range give them problems, but who wouldn't be in problems with that? Shooting in the NBA sucks, if a team catches on fire from the outside they're almost sure to win. But how many good shooting teams are in the league? It's still a 3 headed race for the top spot in the NBA, even if Boston lost 3 times in a week, they're still ahead of the Cavs in the standings.

Drex, you're talking to a fanboy who is desperate to make his team sound better. It's like a kid with live 09, waiting for a bug in nba 2k9 and then whoring it out to try and make their game look better.

I see what you mean but still, I think the nineteen straight wins and their current record outweighs losing three out of the last four. If they keep losing, dropped five in a row and slipped down the standings then I'd certainly agree that would be a sign of some serious problems developing but I don't think too much of it at the moment. They lost to the Lakers who have been just as dominant so far this season and the Blazers are currently batting the Nuggets for the top spot in the Northwest, of their recent three losses the game against the Warriors stands out as the worst, given Golden State's record this year.

Like i said earlier in the thread...unraveling was a hyperbole I used to attract attention to the discussion. However, in my opinion the celtics seemed like they were on a different level from any of the other teams in the league. I was more than delighted to see what might be one of their few weak points and I decided to make a thread about it.

with that said...thanks for this "foe" feature where I can ignore trolls andrew. As peter griffin would say ..it works "freakin sweet!"

I agree, and I think the winning streak did create somewhat of an illusion of an unbeatable team that could keep winning well into the new year and challenge 72-10, beating everyone left and right as though they were playing a bunch of D-League teams. This recent stretch has been a bit of a reality check but I think they'll still amass an impressive record this year, as will the Lakers and Cavs. I wouldn't be too surprised if all three ended up with around 65 wins.

You consider me a "foe" because I disagree with you? lmao nice.

I like it how you've spent more time putting a spin on why you used unravelling when describing the Celtics then actually talking about basketball.
