NBA 3 on 3!

Postby Stevan on Mon May 12, 2003 1:31 pm

Here's the scenario: it's 3 on 3, you can pick the greatest three players that have played for your favourite franchise, and it doesn't matter when they played, we have magical powers on this forum that can overcome barriers such as time :D You may want to choose a guard, forward and centre, but don't have to.
It also doesn't matter how long they played for your franchise. For example Bill Walton one of the great centres played only briefly for the Boston Celtics, but if you have a crush on Bill feel free to choose him over Russell, Parish or McHale.
It might help to pretend that these three guys are going to be playing in a 3 on 3 league against the greatest players of all time, so choose wisely :)

I'm a Bulls fan so I would go with:

Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Artis Gilmore (the one descent big man in Bulls history I believe).

Since Andrew is also a Bulls fan I wanna hear you suggestions for other players maybe?

Have fun people.

That's a nice combo Pavel, have to admitt. But Wilt was overrated (puts flamesuit on) Scottie Pippen would shut down Dr. J, and a prime time MJ would have the advantage over Ivey. :D hehe, well that's how I see it anyway. In reality though Wilt would whoop Artis, and the Bulls would have a slight advantage over the other two... :) ...now if a fourth man (off the bench) was introduced, then the 76ers would clearly win, with either Barkley or Moses Malone comming in. Who the hell do the Bulls have? George Gervin, Jerry Sloan (was he actually any good?) Toni Kukoc or Rodman? hmmm....

well...I truly doubt that Pippen could stop Dr.J who has a much higher jump and a much better offensive game

Wilt might have been overrated...but he stil hold a clear advantage over most NBA centers, including Artis...all the Sixers will need to do is to get the ball to Wilt...meanwhile, even though Ivy can't block MJ's shots...he can still keep up with him...

i would go with:
mj
pip
and the 3 headed monster at the center position :)

i'm assuming this imaginary 3 on 3 game would be played just halfcourt. with that being said i do think pip could contain dr. J- not completely shut down but certainly limit him

Why, Jud Buechler, Joe Kleine and Keith Booth of course. :P

I'd choose:

Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Horace Grant/Dennis Rodman

Not a lot of size, especially the Jordan/Pippen/Rodman lineup, but Grant was a pretty good PF back in the day (and could probably at least stand in the way of most centres), and Rodman's mind games and antics could prove to be an advantage. :)

Well the Raptors are already done.. and that team looks scary, Hakeem T-Mac and Vince in their primes (say Vince and T-Mac in a year or 3, and Hakeem of the mid 1990s).

Houston could field a scary team, Hakeem, Sampson, Ming.. I read somewhere Sampson was like a 7-4 Garnett. Ofcourse they had plenty of good smalls to add to this team, Francis would be better for a 3 on 3 than for a team game I bet.

Artis Gilmore (the one descent big man in Bulls history I believe).

George Gervin

nice choices (y)...the Iceman is the shiznit!
Jerry Sloan (was he actually any good?)

he was a great defender, kinda like a 'white' Ron Artest(including the craziness?), and to think Ostertag was crazy enough to shout at this coach...

anyway, here are my choices for my fave teams:

76ers: same as Pabel's

Celtics: Russell, Bird, Parish(or McHale or Cowens)

The Hawks should go with Kevin Willis instead of Reef.. and maybe Steve Smith instead of Terry.

Come on who's going to risk flames and pick three for Boston?

I think Bird Russel and Cousy would make for the best three Celtics, you didn't mention Cousy, slip of the mind I guess :)

Walker doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as many of these greats in my opinion.
