Gerald Wallace to Cleveland?

Another Cavs trade rumour doing the rounds:

Bobcats' forward Gerald Wallace's name remains a mainstay in trade rumors, and the Cavaliers could have interest.

Many believe that Wallace would work well off the bench for Cleveland, and a deal involving Eric Snow, Sasha Pavlovic, and Tarence Kinsey might be able to get the job done.

That wouldn't be too bad, though it would remain to be seen whether Wallace would be happy with that kind of role and much like the Marion rumours, you have to wonder how wise it is for the Cavs to tinker when they're already playing so well.

Nope i dont think he would join them,i think hes happy right now whit the Bobcats(though they are not one of the best teams in the NBA right now)i think its more possible that Marion will join Clevend he'll fit perfect at that PF position,because Big Ben in the past 2-3 years has been very weak.

The difference is Wallace is playing better this year and could really help Cleveland if he were to come off the bench. Plus, he comes at a cheaper cost. But with Marion, the Cavs get more money off the books when his contract runs out in 2009, which means more money for the LeBron sweepstakes. And yes, there's also to wonder whether id' be smart to tamper with the successful roster they already have. But I think they can only get better. The question is what's more important to them. The present, or the future?

Well, it wouldn't be up to him if he's traded. Short of failing to report and causing a huge drama, there's not much Wallace can do if the teams agree to the trade.

The question is what's more important to them. The present, or the future?

With Cleveland, I think the future and present are one and the same in terms of importance. To keep LeBron, they need to demonstrate they're on the right track, capable of being a force now and in the future so that he'll want to remain part of that. If it's all what-ifs and maybes then that might not be enough to get him to stick around.

So far they're on the right track, but probably not championship-caliber yet IMO. But the thing is, if they go along with one of the moves or not, it'll either make them or break them.

They're heading in that direction though, it might be a bit too early to say that less than halfway into the season but right now they're looking like contenders and if they continue on at this level, the future looks bright and that bodes well for re-signing LeBron, perhaps even to an extension this coming offseason...particularly if they at least make the Eastern Conference Finals.

i would trade marion for g-wall , and cats would love this more that deal with Cle-city. marion for wallace + morrison/felton + filler

That trade that is mentioned would be good, because it still leaves them Wally's expiring, which will be gold come trade deadline. But I think that if the 'Cats do deal him to the Cavs, it will involve Wally. Mabye Wallace and Nazr for Wally+some picks?
If he would be willing to come of the bench, that would be awesome, he's one of the best defenders and has great athleticisim. Sure, he can't shoot, but the Cavs don't need shooters of the bench with Boobie and Sasha already there. The only thing that concerns me about him is his concusion history. Rumor has it, one more and his carrer is over. Of course he got them while playing most of the minutes PF for 'Cats, in Cleveland he would play lesser minutes at the SG position.

I think it would be interesting to see what G-Force can bring to the table for a contender. Its always interesting when players that have never been to the playoffs can show what they are worth - or maybe not. Wallace would definitely be a good addition for the Cavs. He can guard three positions and fits into a good team D.

I think many underrate the Cavs right now but their record shows something different. This team is hot especially on the defensive end whilst on offense LeBron can create shots for himself and others. Conference Finals minimum imo.

Eric Snow, Sasha Pavlovic, and Tarence Kinsey <=== these guys' stats are pathetic this year. Bobcats wants to be next Memphis(Gasol), then this will be an awesome move.

I don't think Charlotte would pull the trigger on that trade. Gerald Wallace for Sasha, Snow, and Kinsey? I would never go after that, and if I was Jordan personally. Send him to the Clippers somehow and someway so they can get Kaman just to move Okafor to the 4, and hopefully that old contract that's collecting dust of Sofoklis Schortsanitis to bring him to the NBA where he's more agile than Sean May. If that doesn't work. Find a way to keep Gerald Wallace, and seek ways to pick up Tiago Splitter or Pops Mensah-Bonsu and just make positive moves.

He played 3 consecutive times in the PO with Sacramento(01-02, 02-03 and 03-04), although he didn't get much playing time back then.

Imo, Wallace is much more worth, than what Cleveland is offering, so they should do it. My only concern is the chemistry, how he blends into the team, Cleveland is already having a great season, they don't want to mess it up.

Okay I forgot bout the Kings being in the Playoffs (hey they also really were in the playoffs two seasons ago, I just cant believe it ^^), but I think you knew what I meant ... I thought about a solid contributor or a "star" and not a benchwarming Gerald Wallace

I remember the Kings were on top of the West at one point. That line-up of Vlade-Webber-Peja-Christie-Bibby was pretty strong at the time.

On paper it looks like a good deal for the Cavs but I'm not sure Wallace would be comfortable in that role as it's asking a lot for someone who's worked their way up into being a starter in the league to come off the bench, particularly on a team where he might not be able to get regular sixth man minutes with the players that would be ahead of him. As we've seen before, unhappy players are often unproductive (or at least less productive) players. Still, perhaps the atmosphere of being on a winning team and the prospect of greater success would mollify him a little.
