MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The Memphis Grizzlies waived former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker on Thursday.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound forward has not played this season. He was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in June along with the draft rights to guard O.J. Mayo and guards Greg Buckner and Marko Jaric in exchange for the draft rights to forward Kevin Love, swingman Mike Miller, forward Brian Cardinal and center Jason Collins.

I'd say his chances are better than that. He's not likely to get a prominent role anywhere but I could see a team with a thin bench or injury troubles picking him up on a minimum deal.

I would say the Thunder should sign him, but they have the next-gen Walker in Durant. I bet he ends up in Houston or some other second tier contender.

I think he'd be a good bench player for any team. He's much maligned, but I think he's a good player.

If he was completely devoid of talent, he wouldn't have lasted in the league this long. Prior to his release, I read a snippet on RealGM that mentioned the Celtics reportedly have no interest in him so it doesn't look like he's in for a third run with them. The Celtics certainly don't need him and couldn't offer him much of a role anyway.

yeah, i read that too! but there are a lot of teams, that could sign him, like Philly, or Bucks or whatever. u know, i was hating Riley in 2006-2007 season, when he founds 7% body fat above the norn in Posey and Walker, and sidelined them for a mounth! than was some other issues, so Pose and Walk has no interest playing for such stupid old ass when the team loosing (i still think that Pat is the best coach!) i think Walker deserves much better treating! Walker>>>Bargnani, Ty.Thomas, Curry, G.Green and a lot of middle guys in the NBA, and he is a beast in clutch situations, and could go for big shots, when it's a lot of pressure on the star players! he proved it in summer of 2006! i would watch his career definitely!

Philadelphia could be a possibility now that Elton Brand is set to miss a month after dislocating his shoulder.

Aw hell no. How often do I have to tell you guys that we no longer have Billy King as GM? Unless Stefanski picked up the crack pipe Philly is not going to sign Walker.

The Raptors should sign him. He doesn't rebound, doesn't play defence and just shoots threes all day. He'd be perfect!

I'm hearing that he wants to play in Cleveland. I'd say keep him in the FA pool where this guy is washed up. Where he was the shit back i n the Boston Celtics days where they had a squad full of UK alumni players.

If more playing time is what he's after, good luck finding it in Cleveland. I can't imagine they'd be willing to mess with success by bringing him in.

I just think his glory years was back with the Celtics, and that's so far behind him now. If you look at his situation back in Miami he couldn't pass the weight limit for Pat Riley.

Those days are definitely passed. Depending on what situation ultimately presents itself to him, he might end up starting again or playing a similar role to the one he had during his first couple of years with the Heat but I doubt he can aspire any higher than that these days. He's far removed from those days with the Celtics and other players have come along and established themselves as the leaders of their respective teams.
