KJ elected Mayor of Sacramento

In the wake of Barack Obama becoming the United States' first black president, former NBA point guard Kevin Johnson has just become the first black mayor of Sacramento.

RealGM Story
Former' Suns point guard Kevin Johnson became the mayor of Sacramento, Calif. on Tuesday night.

Johnson, 42, is also the first black mayor of Sacramento. He defeated two-term incumbent Heather Fargo in a run-off election.

"Sacramento also made history today in electing its first black mayor," Johnson said. "Both [Barack] Obama and myself, we ran on a promise and the theme of change. No more business as usual."

Congrats to Johnson, another former player finding success in his post NBA career. Whenever I think of Johnson, I think of those huge dunks of Hakeem Olajuwon and his later teammate John "Hot Rod" Williams.

I also remember him as being one of the more frequently injured players of the 90s though. Checking his career stats, he didn't play more than 70 games after his first five seasons which doesn't surprise me as I recall him being mentioned in injury reports quite often through the latter years of his career.
