Brand Opts Out Of Contract

The 76ers shown interest in him hours before this.

Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:08 pm

O yes. I am very glad to hear this.
I would love to see Brand back with the Bulls or with the 76ers.

Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:11 pm

I have a feeling he's going back to the Clips, but I really want him in a Sixers uniform

Tue Jul 01, 2008 2:16 pm

Whoever signs him is going to regret it, since he wants a big, long-term deal. I see him being a combination of common-day Kenyon Martin and common-day Ben Wallace once he is signed.

Too bad for the Bulls their ample cap space came and went a couple of years ago. A return seems unlikely outside of a sign-and-trade, but that could be a major coup. However, I think ultimately Brand - like Arenas and Davis - will end up staying put under terms (or perhaps more appropriately, dollars) they find more agreeable.

Oh lord have mercy and make him sign with my Sixers, pleeeeaaaase.

And if he does end up in Philly, please let him stay healthy.

I was quite disappointed when I read the title, but if what was stated in the article is true, then I will be glad. It's a good way of saying "I want to win on this team" while retaining control over ones future. The quality free agent they need is a point guard, imo.

Well its not only Brand... it seems like Maggete opts out of his contract too!:

Oh, they're not getting Calderon.

The Clipps on rebuilding... again ¬¬

They should relocate to Wichita, it sounds cool xD

Unless there's some tension in the Warriors' lockerroom, I'm not sure why Baron Davis would be keen to go to the Clippers (as suggested by that article) when Brand and Maggette might not be around.

Brand has been offered $90M over 5 years by Warriors, while Clippers could only offer him $70M over 5 years. So he has to choose, if money or better chance to reach somewhere(imo). I don´t think Brand wants to leave town now, when Baron is here, even if lesser money. The Sixers offer is probably off the books now, I think, sadly. :-( .I have a question about Brand, if Clippers offer him 1 year deal max, would he get more money next year signing multiyear contract then?

"Unless there's some tension in the Warriors' lockerroom, I'm not sure why Baron Davis would be keen to go to the Clippers (as suggested by that article) when Brand and Maggette might not be around." - Andrew

For the simple fact, Andrew, that Baron apparently wants to play in Los Angeles. So if he can't play for the Lakers, the Clippers are the only other choice.

He might regret that decision if Brand ends up going to the Warriors, though you'd think Brand might be leaning heavily towards re-signing with Davis on board and the possibility of a couple of other strong moves.

a new clippers-lakers rivalry if brand resigns. but its heartening to see clippers owner donald sterling still invest in the team after the fiasco in 2006.

if sixers get brand, it'll be a sad year for baron davis. as much as i root for brand, i root for baron as well, so if he ever chooses sixers, hope he pulls chris webber.

^Huh? I don't get it... :?

Wed Jul 09, 2008 5:54 am

He means Webber didn´t do very well in Philly and he hopes Brand fails also.

Is this post a joke?

The karma bug may bite him, the same way it bit Boozer after he left Cleveland...

Where after shaking off injuries he became a superstar big man on the best offense in the league?
