Spurs or Mavericks?

For the Spurs I have a team based on last year with these minutes going 60-22.
Code:
duncan,tim   34.2
bowen,bruce   30.3
parker,tony   33.7
ginobili,manu   31.3
finley,michael   26.5
oberto,fabricio   20.2
udoka,ime   16.4
vaughn,jacque   14.4
bonner,matt   15.9
barry,brent   8.2
thomas,kurt   9.6

Replacing Barry with Maggette and reconfiguring the minutes so Maggette has 35 a game. (Reducing Bowen to 17 and Finley to 13 a game) I have them come out as...60-22.

Using the above minutes but replacing a player entirely (i.e. if I replace Bowen with Maggette, Maggette is at 30.3 minutes) I have:
Replace Bowen: 61-21
Replace Finley: 60-22
Replace Barry: 59-23

The issue comes from Maggette using so many extra possessions and the fact he's not any better on defense. If Maggette's efficiency increased while allowing himself to become the fourth option, and used his size more effectively on defense along with the Spurs defense, I don't see why he couldn't add a couple extra wins over the Spurs current SF/SG slots.

Also of note, using the 2006-07 Maggette improves over Bowen to 63-19, over Finley to 62-20 and matches Barry at 60-22. (Using the reallocated minutes from above also puts them at 61-62 wins.)

I wouldn't use last year's stats from Maggette since he was the main scoring option. I don't think he will be the main scoring option in SA. I also don't expect him to play the same in San Antonio as he has with the Clippers. Try the year he was injured and Cassell first joined the Clippers.

He has been noted as a pretty good perimiter defender in the past, and he will either end up as the weakest link on the Spurs, or the Spurs coaching will improve his defense.

David Robinson wore #50, I think Maggs will have to wear a different one.

Maggette was an impact player the Mavs needed. If he'd slotted in at SG instead of the undersized Jason Terry, he'd fill the role of driving to the hole (that happened so little in the playoffs with Josh Howard smoking weed) and Terry could come off as a sixth man as a Vinnie Johnson microwave sort of guy shooting threes (being hopeful).

i don't think maggette is considering mavs at all. first of all, mavs can't afford players like maggette. mavs is in bad shoes, since they are stuck with kidd and terry's big contract, way over cap limit. and seeing last year's result, maggette wouldn't wanna be a mav. kidd trade made the dallas less attractive team in terms of winning championship. maggette would rather choose to be spurs/celtics if he were to sign for MLE, definitely not for mav.

PS: wut happened to my cute sig...

it sux to be a mav fan at the moment, cuz wut they can do to improve the team seem so limited. if core players of mavs don't step up like last year, and if some magical trade don't happen, mavs could well be out of playoff picture. the thing is looking at mavs' roster, it's hard to pull a good trade.

Yeah, it was like 1 mb, which is in violation of the signature size restrictions, and to top it off, annoying.

According to Maggette, he was "in awe" that the Celtics would even consider him. If he does sign with them and takes a liking to his role as the 6th man, he could be a serious pre-season pick for 6th Man of the Year.

I'm sure he would like 30-35 maybe even 40 minutes a game. He wont get that in Boston and he wants to start. In San Antonio he will get both.

Maybe in Orlando or at Duke, I don't think he's actually guarded anyone since then.
Try the year he was injured and Cassell first joined the Clippers.

I don't see how it would make much difference. He's been basically the same player since 2002-03.

it'd be wicked if maggette could stay with clippers. kaman/elton brand/maggette/baron line up sounds better than baron's golden state line up. they surely could be a competitive playoff caliber team.
