Chris Andersen...

Sun Sep 23, 2007 9:49 am

Anybody knows whats up with that guy?
He had some drug problems in 05 if i remember right and couldn`t play 2 years in NBA cause of that.
Where he plays now or what does he do now?
He was one of my favourite white players in NBA.

is he eligable to re-enter the nba this season, or next? i dont think any team would want him now after not playing for so long

Sun Sep 23, 2007 10:26 am

Hes eligible around mid season i think i remember reading.. Thats when he was banned..

Chris Anderson, whose two-year suspension for violating the league's drug policy ends at midseason, has been working out in Las Vegas getting ready to resume his career.

It sounds as if the Hornets, who last held his rights, will not reinstate his contract $14 million deal, making him a free agent. "He's exceeded expectations in every area," said agent Steve Heumann. "We're moving forward to the first applicable moment to apply for reinstatement."

looks like he will be back, darn i`m happy :)

It wouldn't surprise me too much if he latches on somewhere once he's reinstated, in much the same role as he had with the Hornets. I can't say I'm enthused about the idea of him possibly entering the dunk contest again.

I'd love to see the guy back, but not in the Slam Dunk contest. He'd be a good fit for the Raptors (though other teams would probably need him more)

What about Phoenix? They need all the size they can get, and his athleticism really fits their style.

New Jersey would be nice as well.

Mon Sep 24, 2007 7:22 am

Well, his lifstyle would certainly fit in with the Pacers.

He was a decent role player, and I think he got a little bit of the shaft in that dunk contest. The first one he put down was SICK. Everyone in the arena that night thought he got a raw deal.

Some kid had a chance to play against him
Seems to be a new video, from this summer.
seems like he doesn`t jump that high anymore, but for a 6`10, 29 year old white guy it seems really decent.
Anyways, he looks healthy to me.

He did throw down a couple of nice dunks in the contests he competed in, but debacle with all the failed lobs was ridiculous and the scorn well-deserved in my opinion.

That first year he was in it they screwed him over and underrated him I thought.

Yeah but the format of that dunk contest was crap. Some people are good at catching those, while others arent. (Chris falls into the latter, obviously  )

I think the rediculous requirements are what killed the contest for everybody involved. It hampered there creativity, and then the judges and commentators wanted to see something new...

Wed Sep 26, 2007 11:22 am

True, but at the end of the day it was Andersen who kept trying all those lobs and not moving on to something else, so by the time he actually did something everyone was over it. Putting a time limit on it in subsequent years was a good idea.

I agree that some of the requirements are a bit of a letdown at times, I'm glad they've yet to try the wheel again. It had good intentions but ultimately it just took an attempt from each participant, forcing them to attempt a dunk that they might not be able to accurately duplicate (too short, hands are too small to palm the ball, etc) instead of utilising their own creativity.

The Birdman was that his monicker. Too bad he wasted his time on drugs.

Fri Oct 19, 2007 5:35 am

Will he be back or not? I'm really interested about this guy.

Fri Oct 19, 2007 6:00 am

he is eligible for reinstatement in January

Sun Oct 21, 2007 10:24 pm

As I said before, I wouldn't be surprised if he signed on somewhere once he's reinstated, even if it's only for a couple of ten day contracts. By that point in the season there's bound to be a team with injuries in the frontcourt or a rotation that isn't getting the job done that's willing to give him a try.

Mon Oct 22, 2007 10:32 am

Woah...january,cant wait to see him play again.
