5 best young players by position

Postby Gedas on Tue Feb 27, 2007 5:02 am

I though I'd create this thread, to find out your opinion of 5 most potencial having young players by position. Here's my 5:

C-D. Howard (Very young, extremely dominant already)
PF-C. Bosh (One of the best big-man scorers already)
SF-L. James (No comments needed)
SG-A. Iguadala (Now that he's no. 1 in Philly, he is hsowing signs)
PG-C. Paul (A great playmaker, scorer, a dynasty player at New Orleans)

same as above, except I'd put Wade as SG since Iguodala is just pure athleticism (at least for now)

Well Wade is a little old to be called "young player". He is almost 25.

I agree with those, although Brandon Roy could also be put in the SG position too, it is pretty close between him and Andre.

Andre has all the possibility of being an all star player next year. As I said, he is now the key player in the 76ers and, since the Iverson trade, is playing like one.

I think he will. He was behind Iverson for 2 and a half years, but now he has showed sometimes he can be a first option. Remember that he's still learning to be a leader, and having Andre Miller as a pass-first PG will help him develop a more complete game.

Andre can be a great defender, but i don't think he can become 1 of the best, it is possible with his athleticism, height and size, but i haven't seen much of an in between game or him making incredible shots like a wade, kobe, mcgrady that used to do when they were younger..

Andre seems like a very stable player, i can see him going for maybe a 21-22ppg, 6 rebounds 6 assists, 2 steals average.

My picks are:

C - Dwight, potential 25ppg/15rpg/3bpg guy
PF - Chris Bosh, he is amazing, his leadership, intensity, work ethic
SF - Lebron, his stats probally maxed out last year with a 30/7/6 year.
SG - not sure if i can put Kevin Durant here, but ya he looks the most promising, i think he is more of a 3 tho.
PG - Paul and Deron Williams look great

Other notables

C - Andres Biedrin ( ever wonder how a skinny guy with limited offence can put up tho 16pts/15boards/4assists/4blocks/2steals games? i dunno, imagine he actually got bigger/smarter and skilled, give him a few yeras, can he avg like a 15/12/3?, underrated guy

PF - Al Jefferson

SF - whoever

SG - Brandon Roy, AI2, gerald Green

PG - Rajon Rondo, Randy Foyd

I think anyone under 25 is pretty young for the NBA - I'd take Gedas's list and add Kevin Martin at SG.

The question here is does the age matter? hell Lebrons in the league just as many years as wade and i'd say coming in Lebron had the edge on Wade. Are we counting 5 years or less in the league? what about injuries or not getting to play (Darko) Anyways the list?
C-cant really argue against Howard at this spot.
PF-Channing Frye....I expect big things out of him still
SF-Lebron or Melo-First to win a championship wins
SG-Luther head, just wait....he's a little small for the position but coming in off the bench he gets double digits often which to me means something
PG-CP3 and Deron, both going to be amazing

I really have trouble seeing Luthur Head as 1 of the bright wing players in the future.

I do see him as a great 6th man that provides scoring and shooting punch to a team.

Channing Frye? Wouldn't you agree on Chris Bosh over Frye?

To me Bosh wouldnt be the same if he had any talent around him....not tyring to take away from his playing, he's still great, i just wanted to a)name different people b) go a little more recent than Bosh's draft c)give some love to the guy who would've beaten the Illini in the elite 8 if not for deron.

I think its kind of obvious the line-up because some of the young guys today are superstars.

C Dwight Howard
F Chris Bosh
F LeBron James
G Dwayne Wade
G Chris Paul

But in terms of players who ae not superstars yet and are at a young age here's my team:

C Andrew Bynum
F Rudy Gay
F Al Jefferson
G Jameer Nelson
G Gerald Green
Corey Brewer - Defensive Player of the Year 08
