Yao might cut his career in the NBA short.

Yao Ming suffers from hypertension.

Bad news, if true. Yao was kinda soft this season compared to the play of Stoudemire. It's only his first year so it's hard to comment on.

This could just be a cry for more touches...

That sucks. I guess thats what happens when your in the spotlight and don't realy like it. Lebron James might be the next 1 to suffer from this, since he is getting even more attention & more expections than Yao Ming did.

James seems to enjoy the spotlight, Ming was/is more of a quiet guy who just wants to have fun. Too much expectation was placed on him as you said.

i doubt james will suffer from this.. i mean he's going to get his summers off.. yao on the other hand has to go back to china every summer and work his ass off and then come back to the states for another grueling nba season.. poor guy. china should just get off his ass and give him a break

The question is, how short is short? The duration of his rookie contract? Or is he already done? There's little doubt that Yao could be huge in the NBA, so this is an unfortunate development for both Yao and the Rockets.

very true that ming's play was soft compared to stoudemire's. it's a bad comparison though, like comparing apples and oranges. stoudemire's game is raw and based on physical skill & power.. most from the post. yao's is polished, finesse, high post, face up/fall away jumpers.

ohhh, i totally forgot about Yao having to play for China. That kind of sucks for the guy. I would probably leave the nba too ( if i can't leave china)if I can't get no damn time for my self. If everyday for the next 10 years I had to think about basketball all the time, can't even get a month off of it, I'd go nuts!

I wouldn't I'd love it, but than again playing basketball non-stop for like 10 years you wouldn't really be getting much rest and stuff... but thinking about basketball for 10 years straight wouldn't make me go nuts, neither would playing basketball for 10 years straight, I'd just be really tired....

this is wut the Chinese national team do...Yao's they're future...they gotta let him rest...or China b-ball is done...and Yao is making the Chinese government money...sheesh let the guy rest

Well even though you getting tons of cash, you still would want sometime to do other stuff wouldn't you? I'm sure basketball isn't the only thing on your mind..

RE: Yao being soft as opposed to Stoudemire

You have to understand that the Chinese league is not very physical at all. Nor is the Chinese brand of play for that matter. Even their "shorter" (those around 6'8") and bulkier centers don't even like to mess it up inside the paint. It's just the way they were schooled in hoops.
