Nba Players salary

Wed Feb 07, 2007 7:59 am

I wonder if anybody know this... about nba players $$$

Example: Shaq is getting paid 20 Millions this season.

1. How often does he get paid? is it by game? every 2 weeks? monthly?
2. If he gets injured, does he still get paid 20 millions?
3. What other benefits do nba player get besides their salary?

Thanks :)

Well, it'd have be yearly wouldn't it? That's what i've always assumed.

If they get paid 5 mil a year or something for 5 years, then in the first year 5 mil would be injected into their bank account, and they can get money out whenever they please. I guess.

I don't think there are any extra benefits apart from things on the side like sponsors, shoe deals, events and other crap like that.

If they get injured, they still get the money. (Unless the contract says otherwise. But i doubt there is a contract like that in the nba)

I think some of those salaries are really old, they dont even have Lebron, Melo or D-Wade in there who earn like 15mill and upwards each.

I think the salaries of the 2003 draft class hasn't kicked in yet. They are still on rookie scale contracts. They will start making that next yr.

and, counting out players who have been bought out of their contracts. I'd say larry hughes has the heftiest salary considering performance/salary ratio on this list. btw, I don't count the likes of houston, webber, and rose, because their respective team lured them with big contracts most of them intended to be bought pout on the last yr to cheat and go over the salary cap.

pretty sure NBA players get paid every 2 weeks or once a month or so. As mentioned they get bonuses too. They are usually based on performance. I know that Antonio McDyess has a player option for another season (worth $6) if he plays 65+ (can't remember exact figure) games in the last year of his contract.

Players are paid whenever their contract says they are. Two weeks is what most players have. Shaq always gets paid in one big lump sum at the start (or end) of the season.

A player will get his salary unless he dies, or the team can have the contract terminated some other way. Just being injured doesn't stop one from getting paid.

What other benefits would the players need? At an average salary over $5 million a year they can insure everything they own five times.
