cliff for bobby

nice trade for both of the team, since gs needed to strength their front court, and detroit needed to make the time for milicic.

Fri Aug 22, 2003 12:33 pm

agreed. Mullin making some good moves. GS salary cap situation will be looking good come 2005

Fri Aug 22, 2003 12:51 pm

yeah great trade this time for GS...they needed a PF badly and they got one in Robinson..but the problem is he won't be able to put up Jamison numbers..and he doesn't attack inside...

Fri Aug 22, 2003 1:35 pm

i don't think GS brought in robinson to replace jamison's scoring. the way i see it, van exel will replace a big bulk of jamison's scoring with dunleavy jr, murphy, richardson stepping up as well.

GS already has murphy and jones @pf position. i think most likely uncle cliffy will be backing up both SF & PF positions. should be a good mentor for both murph and dunleavy jr.

well Joe D had to trade at leats one of Zelly, Memo, Wallace, Milicic and Robinson
Zelly's heart condition makes him hard to trade (+ he's got potential), Memo was pretty much a lock to stay given his well rounded offense, youth and rebounding, Wallace wasn't gonna be traded and neither was Milicic

Since Pistons lost Barry, this trade makes sense
Lineup should be

C Memo
PF Wallace
SF Prince (if he doesnt start @ begining of season he will at the end)
SG Hamilton
PG Billups

with the bench of Atkins, Williamson, Sura
Milicic is unlikely to see considerable time, after all, he's only 18

Fri Aug 22, 2003 3:30 pm

i think elden campbell will start as a center.
nba.com took a pole for gs's starting lineup, and robinson was there instead of mike d. why's that ?

Fri Aug 22, 2003 4:26 pm

cuz Cliff has more experience and Mike Dunleavy is very unproven...just like last years draft the lineup was project like this

C-Dampier
PF-Jamison
SF-Dunleavy
SG-Richardson
PG-Arenas

but Eric Musselman didn't go with Dunleavy instead he put Troy Murphy at PF and move Jamison to SF his natural position....and since Dunleavy did show that he is capable of being a starter later in his career...

Fri Aug 22, 2003 7:58 pm

i'm startin' to think joe dumars is a f!cking genius, great move by the pistons, and i think milicic is gonna see some pt though, he needs to develop somehow, and the best way to do that is playin', also good move by GS, think starting lineup will be :
Dampier
Murphy
Dunleavy
Richardson
Van Exel

though it could be that richardson ass will be benched(while the game is busy, so he still starts) and the backcourt will be van exel and claxton in a lot of situations, just a thought

Fri Aug 22, 2003 11:30 pm

oooops, totally forgot bout Campbell..........having said that i still think it's a toss up between him and Memo at C

Sun Aug 24, 2003 5:18 am

Decent trade I guess. The only problem is that Robinson is even older now. Sura is pretty good, but he and the Warriors didn't get along very well. Pepe Sanchez, here's his time to try and shine.

Sun Aug 24, 2003 5:30 am

yeah, sanchez has potential, you cant forget him, the trade might turn into a real steal for detroit if he develops.

cliff can play centre too, there arent many strong ones in the league that can hurt him and when gs plays shaq or td they can just plug in dampier or foyle.

Detroit traded him to GSW

Cliff has played C the last two seasons for the Pistons and he intially manned up on Shaq
