Haha that's hilarious, they might as well paid my dad for testing the new ball  Like everyone believes on David Stern's magic baller hands.

The new balls are Sterns way to get the Knicks back on top of the league. He tried to give Dolan a few tips on how to run the team, but he didn't wanna listen. So my boy Dave decided to take things into his own hands by inserting a microchip that ensures the Knicks win the title. Thanks!

But seriously, I don't really think there was a need to change the ball. Instead of changing the ball they should have had the refs watch hours of 90s basketball, learning how to call a game. Calling a foul everytime the defender touches the ball handler? No wonder Lebron, Wade and other players who can't shoot for shit can still put up double digit numbers.

If the Knicks win it all this year I'm blaming you

I'll take the "blame" as a symbol of your gratitude when it happens

Has it been released in stores anywhere and if it has, has anyone here ever tried out this ball, i really can't see how it can make this much of an impact and if they are professionals they should easily be able to make thee adjustment. I'd understand there complaints if they were going to start playing with soccer balls, but they are still using basketballs

Well, it looks stickier

The players just aren't willing to accept change thats all. Of course there will be differences but you just have to adjust to it, they need to learn new tricks.

Why did they change the ball, in the first place though. I think they should have gave the players time, before the new ball was announced, to test it out. Did the players have any input?

We should all pitch in $5 and buy one, and see for ourselves.

Think I just realized why they changed the ball? Anyone see how much it costs? $100 for a ball? The old ones used to cost like 30-40. Thats an insane price for a ball, no matter what "revolutionary design and breakthrough material" it has.

I also read somewhere that the high grade leather that they use was harder to find and obviously really expensive. But it kinda sounded like more of an excuse than a reason.

TJ Ford has complained about the new balls before too. A few weeks ago he complained that he can't do long bounce passes anymore. It sticks to the floor or something and bounces too high and gets he gets a TO. Something like that.

As for changing the new balls. I don't really get it. It's sorta a case of - if it aint broke, why fix it?

I also think they should have tested the balls out first. I would have used them for just this preseason to see what the players thought. $100 is too much. It looks like it is easier to make since it is only "2 pieces" instead of 8, and that it is a composite instead of leather.

Is the composite material the same type of material used for indoor/outdoor synthetic leather basketballs like ones you can buy for $20-$40?

Maybe the balls aren't being broken in thoroughly. I remember hearing or reading something that said the leather balls had to be broken in before they could use them in games.

At least Steve Nash won't have his spit all over the ball. :P

What a whiny bitch. It doesn't matter if it's leather or composite, TJ Ford always has oodles of turnovers.

$100 for a ball? WTF!
I thought the league was trying to save some money with the new ball because it doesn't "degrade" as fast as a leather ball.

$100 is pretty cheap for an official NBA ball, my friend bought an official leather ball about 5 months ago. I can't remember the exact price he told me, but it was at least double that, $200-$400. But then again, that ball was real leather, where this is some composite material. But anything with the NBA logo on it is going to be expensive.

$200-$400

Wow, thats nuts. Over here in NZ and Australia NBA stuff is usually real expensive, but it is still only NZ$150 for the official (old) NBA ball.
