I thought Maggette was sixth man due to his injury. Wouldn't he recover and just start again?

Yes he works well as a sixth man but his personally not too happy about it becoming a permanent thing which is a likely situation. The team is also not too happy with his fitness and durability, despite him being a great help to the team when he's on the floor he seems to having some issues with avoiding injury and the Clippers aren't very strong or deep in the swingman department and thats why we need to get someone more reliable.

Probably, but he seemed to play more effectively as a sixth man, so the Clippers decided to keep him there even though he was close to being fully recovered. I've heard that he doesn't enjoy being in that role though, but I think its a good fit for him even though he does not put up the stats that he used to put up.

Yup, he was ok with it for the time being cause he understood the situation but Mike D seemed to like him off the bench rather than starting games. And as I wrote earlier in this post its his durability the team is worried about and that's why he's been shopped since last off-season and their were reports coming in he'll be traded for a high pick this year or for someone that can stay on the floor longer. We couldn't snatch Ron Artest which I'm pretty happy about and most of our offers got rejected cause Maggette was injured at that time and teams had the same fear as us in that he won't be able to withstand a full season.

He's stock would have jumped up a bit after the playoffs so hopefully we get something good, our original plan was to trade him and a package of our players to get that second star but now with Wilcox being traded and Kaman doing well thats unlikely. I think its likely we try for a top 5 pick, I heard news that the team likes Adam Morrison somewhat and is also interested in Rodney Carney.

Looks like the Maggette rumors are dying down fast. Maybe something will open up somewhere closer to the draft but looks like he might be seeing another season or half a season as a Clipper.

I hope Corey stays a Clipper. I really like his strong abillity to penetrate and draw fouls, however he does it a bit clumsily, usually with his head down. I don't like the Clippers history when it comes to building up young players and shipping them out. It was hard to reintegrate him into the playoff team because he was gone most of the season. Had he not been injured for most of the season, I strongly believe we would have saw a Clippers-Mavs WCF.

It's not Corey's ability that's in doubt it's his personal happinness factor coming off the bench and his durability which has been running on thin ice. He was ok with the bench role for sometime but he wasn't happy about the thought of becoming a full time 6th man and I understand that cause he's probably a sure shot starter or quite alot of teams in the league baring that his fitness is intact.

If we can get someone like D-Mase that is someone that's more likely to be comfortable with a bench role then that would be fine with me as long as he doesn't play like the way he did with the Hornets last season. Course that deal seems out of the question now but if we can get a more durable sixth man for Corey or two good bench players for Corey that would be fine with me. I'll miss him cause he's been with the team for along time now and is one of my favourite players but this team has to stay united and healthy for it to be a year on in playoff team and championship contender.

Hey Stevesanity, in hindsight, I'm furious that we didn't do the Ron for Corey Maggette swap. Do you wish the trade had gone down too? I think with Ron on your roster you guys would have beaten the Suns, and possibly the Mavs too. What do you think?

You never know what Ron you'll get. Ron's a guy that can bring a team wins but also be a burden to his teammates and eventually become a sour grape. I think the team doesn't need over the top aggresion or any drama makers so I'd have to say I'm pretty that we didn't go for Ron cause he has too much of baggage these days. You might get a good season or a half with him but sooner or later he's bound to cause some controversy and in this case I'm happy we stuck with Corey.

Some rumors coming out about Maggette.

One has something like Mags and someone for PJ Brown, JR Smith and a pick this year and a future pick. An ok trade for me but PJ's old, JR's right now a 50-50 type player in terms of whether he'll succeed or not but the picks could prove interesting but then again I'd rather not have too big an influx of rookies on the team.

The other is a deal to Memphis for possibly Miller plus future picks or Battier and future picks both are more bench willing players but then the team starts lacking athleticism at the wing but Battier's versatility and defense could be very useful but the team would have problems in scoring.

Another rumor is involving the Celtics where it would be something like Maggs, Radman, Kaman and future picks for Pierce, 7th pick and West. Would love to get Pierce but I really doubt this would happen specially after the Kaman breakout unless Baylor takes O'Bryant and he doesn't end up a bust but it's a risky call and Pierce isn't getting any younger.
