They had the press conference at 4:00. Larry Brown will no longer be coaching the Sixers. He can go to any team, and the Sixers won't get any compensation.

We should be surprised that Brown stayed in Philadelphia for as long as he has. It's well documented that he's fairly nomadic as far as NBA head coaches go

I don't think he'll replace anyone currently holding a head coaching position (such as Doug Collins) - he'll probably take one of the vacant positions. Van Gundy was supposed to be accepting the Cleveland job, but now Houston wants to interview him.

It will be interesting to see who the Sixers get to replace Brown. Perhaps Brown will end up switching places with Lenny Wilkens, with Brown taking over the Raptors and Wilkens taking over the Sixers - though there isn't really much reasoning behind that.

Um, yeah Larry Brown is gone from Philly. I spoke with Tales about this earlier, and we agreed Houston is the best option for him. Brown likes young teams on the verge of the playoffs and well, houston is right there. Plus with Yao Ming and Stevie Franchise already on board, his job wouldnt be too hard of constructing or adding pieces, rather just implement a nice defensive structure (posey, griffin, ming, francis, mobley can all d up). So I think Houston is the best situation for him. Or he just join the Knicks coaching staff

The Hornets are in need of a coach, though names like Tim Floyd and I believe Brian Hill are mentioned in association with that job. That's not say Brown won't be a candidate now that he's left Philly, but the Hornets are probably considering the options they've already been mulling over (and had in for interviews).

I'm hoping he lands in Houston or in Cleveland. Both teams need a good coach to guide the careers of young guys like Yao and LeJa.

poor tim floyd. i'm surprised he would want to go back to the nba after that disastrous stint with the bulls. though it wasn't necessarily his fault, pink floyd must have one of the worst, if not the worst, losing percentages of all time in the nba (maybe in professional sports?)

Ya I wouldn't be surprised if he did. It's kinda hard to do well with the talent he had though considering how young the team was. Was this guy a good coach in college though? I know next to nothing about him.
