Is cleveland....

Sun May 11, 2003 8:40 pm

If cleveland pick Lebron James can he make an impact right away. As you can see cleveland has wagner, davis and miles. What position would he play in this team? I believe he can run the point but the thing is there is wagner already. :?

I don't think it would be a terrible decision if Cleveland moves Darius Miles back to the bench, and allows James to play shooting guard or small forward (depending on where Ricky Davis plays), if they are able to draft him.

Imo that would work fine for them, have Wagner and Miles coming off the bench and have ricky at SF. see if James can play PG in the nba and then try Wagner in the lineup with james at point

I think they would have to do some wheelin' & dealin' if they got LeBron...
Perhaps trade Miles for another big man? or maybe a backup SG...
or maybe Miles could play PF? or maybe even LeBron could play PF...

C- Z
Pf- Miles
Sf- LeBron
Sg- Davis
Pg- Wagner

Miles at PF is just wrong... that's why they should make some trades if they get LeBron ...and if they're going to trade somebody, they should trade Darius "Bricks" Miles...

I'd like to see Cleveland pick up LeBron...

Me too. Imagine wagner bringing the ball on a fastbreak he looks in his left side he has ricky davis on the right side lebron james what would happen? The other team POSTERIZED!!! Cleveland got nothing out of daruis miles. I think they should trade him for a veteran Pf.

I think the Cavs should stick with Boozer. He was one of there best big men this season, and was their only consistent rebounder. He is exactly what the Cavs need in a PF, rebounding, tough low post game and he doesn't need a lot of shots.

But the Miles deal was definately a mistake, as they could still have Dre to feed Ricky, Wagner and maybe Bron. Both Miles and Dre's trade value dropped dramatically this year, so the deal didn't work out for either team. The Cavs should trade Miles for someone who can give them some consistent scoring off the bench and a bit of defence wouldn't hurt.

Miles will have to bulk up to be of any use to the Cavs, whether it's as a starter, reserve or trade bait. If they get LeBron, Miles will have to go to the bench - there's just no way he can play power forward, even in the East.

If the Cavs get Paul Silas to coach them and get james at the same time do you think they can be a playoff contender right away?

Tue May 13, 2003 3:25 pm

I think the playoffs will be a distant goal, probably not a reality next season, James or no James. I think they'll be much like the Bulls were this year - improving to the 25-30 wins mark, speeding up the rebuilding process, having a respectable year (given their roster) but nothing special.

Just my opinion though. :)

Tue May 13, 2003 5:52 pm

But who honestly knows in the east anymore? New York, Chicago, Atlanta will be knocking on the door, and if Cleveland can build around their young nuclease maybe they can challenge for a playoff spot?

Tue May 13, 2003 7:54 pm

It's a possibility, but I don't see any of the top 8 Eastern teams dropping off, barring injuries, bad offseason moves or drastic improvement of their opponents. With Washington likely falling off next season, the Cavs will still have to contend with Atlanta, New York and Chicago, all of whom have a chance (though New York is the only one relatively close) at making the playoffs next year.

Getting LeBron won't help Darius Miles bulk up or fix up their lacklustre bench. Even without LeBron, the Cavs have talent, but it's either not utilised, doesn't fit their style of play, or consistently lost to injury. Of course, nothing is impossible, and you never know what might happen. Personally, I think it will take more than LeBron to get the Cavs back into serious playoff contention.

If they do get LeBron, their goal should be improving on last year, with making the playoffs an afterthought. It didn't do the Hawks much good to set their sights too high - unfortunately, they put money on their overconfidence. At least the season ticket holders got something out of the season.

Who do you think should coach this team? IMO i would like them to be coached by Van Gundy or Silas.

Wed May 14, 2003 11:44 am

It seems Van Gundy is satisfied with his announcer's job, so he's probably not a serious candidate anyway (though he reserves the right to change his mind). I think Silas would be a good fit. The Cavs need a coach who is strict but likeable, and knows what it takes to create a winner. Silas can be that coach.
