Was Krause working for the Bulls in any capacity before 1985? I know Rod Thorn is the man credited for drafting Michael Jordan, and that Krause succeeded him after MJ's rookie season, but I don't know if he had a role with the Bulls before he was named as the team's GM.

It's an interesting question though, and it would be interesting if someone could dig up some info on it. Personally, I've always wondered if there were ever any trade rumours/suggested trade scenarios involving MJ at any time during his career. I've never been able to find any articles of that nature though.

if i'm not mistaken, krause was working as a scout for reinsdorf around that time. i'm not sure if he was scouting for the white sox or the bulls. it doesn't surprise me that krause or any other GM would say that jordan couldn't reverse a franchise. at that time in the nba, center was the dominating position in the nba. not too many people thought you can build your franchise around a shooting guard

andrew- you should find the info you're looking for in the book by sam smith, the jordan rules or other books on the bulls' glory days.

Thanks for the tip. :) Not sure how easy (or cheaply) that book will be to come by in Australia, but I'll give it a look. (Y)

To my understanding.....
I remember hearing this in one of the NBA Finals (1996-1998) that Michael Jordan is the only member of the Bulls from that time span not picked up by Krause. I believe one of the NBC guys said it.

That's correct. Of all the players who were members of the Bulls' championship teams 91-93 and 96-98, Michael Jordan was the only player whom Krause did not draft or trade for.

NBADraft.net only goes back to 2002 I believe. Try a Google search, specifically for old mock drafts, and also sites that have significant/interesting articles and columns from a long time ago, a historical basketball news site (for lack of a better term).
