Who the hell do they think they are keeping Gary Payton off of that? They must be crazy. Gary PAyton is the second best PG, if not the best in the league. How does Steve Nash make it? Payton led Nash in points, rebound, steals, and assists. That's just bullshit. So is Stephon Marbury making it over the Glove. GP's just not getting enough respect today.

Good selections.

But I agree that GP should have been given more consideration.
Wed May 07, 2003 2:50 pm
great selections
But GP should of been in at least the 3rd team in fornt of Nash.
well im sure he will make the All-Defensive Team.
Wed May 07, 2003 5:01 pm
i would have like to seen jermaine o'neal to at least make the 2nd-all nba team. IMO he was the best and most dominating big man in the eastern conference this year. but he's in good company
Wed May 07, 2003 6:40 pm
IMO i think steve nash is worthy to be on the list. gary payton did not have a good season and besides he was traded and his numbers dropped.
Wed May 07, 2003 8:58 pm
Compare their numbers and you'll clearly see that GP's are better. He beat Nash in points, assists, rebounds, and steals. Even when he was with the Bucks they were still higher.
Wed May 07, 2003 9:17 pm
And look where all those numbers lead the Bucks.. while Nash guided his team to the best record in the league.

i can't for the life of me understand why the people who select these teams choose to have 3 forwards and 2 guards for the second and third teams. i know that the C position is weak but u can't just put a forward in the C position. anyone who knows anything about the nba knows that cliff robinson is the C at detroit and brad miller the C at indiana
this is how it should've been:
1st
C S.O'Neal
F K.Garnett
F T.Duncan
G T.McGrady
G K.Bryant
2nd
C Z.Ilgauskas
F C.Webber
F D.Nowitzki
G A.Iverson
G P.Pierce
3rd
C K.Thomas
F S.Marion
F J.O'Neal
G J.Kidd
G G.Payton

what!!!! they have 2F a C and 2G's???
plus u put Z and K.thomas in, y???

what!!!! they have 2F a C and 2G's???
they have wallace as center in the second team and j.o'neal as the other center when they both are forwards
plus u put Z and K.thomas in, y???
because 'Z' is the second best center therefore in the all nba second team and thomas is the third best center in the nba therefore 3rd team selection for him........they way it should be
Thu May 08, 2003 12:27 am
Aren't these teams kinda like the rookie team, where they don't need to pay attention to positions as much?

it wasnt just Nash, and i beleive theres another guy on the Mavs team called Dirk Nowitzi who played a huge part in Mavs success
Thu May 08, 2003 3:28 am
Which explains why Nash' numbers were a bit lower than Payton's, he wasn't the first or second option on his team.
Thu May 08, 2003 5:04 am
Yes but I still think he played better than Nash. I think that he's a better player all around still, even if he's in his mid-30's, he's still top 2 point guard, if not the best point guard in the league(IMO). How does it explain why Nash's rebounds, steals, and assists were less then Payton's? GP led his team in assists AND points.

Assists: different offensive system
Rebounds: better rebounding teammates/big men
Steals: Not as quick hands, or taking less risks

i agree with Dan Gadzuric. payton is great but i believe steve nash is much better than him now. payton has been on all-nba teams selection before why not give a chance to a much younger (and help his team to a tied with the best record in the nba(60-22), 2nd round) player like steve nash.

hes barely 6'9

there as good as one an other on offense, but its defence that payton dominates nash on, therefore payton is better all-round and a better player.
complete players are always better than very good offensive players.
