A good effort by the Suns and a narrow escape by the Spurs in Game 6, but it will be San Antonio who will face the Lakers in the second round after an 87-85 victory. Nice game for Marion (24 points, 15 rebounds) and Amare (18 points, 10 rebounds), Tim Duncan had a triple double (15 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists).
Still, a bright future for the Suns (no pun intended), they should definitely be able to make it back next season if Amare continues to develop.

I agree, but Amare has lots of work to do in the offseason... The guy's game is pure strength. He's probably the 2nd strongest player in the league behind Earl Boykins O' Neal, and he only goes to his right (I watched games 1 and 2 of the Spurs/Suns series)...
He dunks, leaps, rebounds good for a rookie, all good, he's a manchild and all, but the guy simply can't pass from 5 feet, doesn't move well enough to get open constantly, is foul-prone, etc...
Still I'd say he has a bright future, look at the guy's age, heck, he is almost 5 years younger than me...

tales i agree with most of what you said about amare.
but he doesnt always go to his right.
he pulled off a lovely fake move and left duncan flat footed and went baseline(to his left) and slammed it home.
you mighta seen it on the top 10 plays on nba action.
the biggest problem with amare is he is so damn foul prone.
there not one game i havent seen him get into foul trouble at one stage.
but everytime i see him play he rises to the occasion in the clutch.

Yeah, by "always goes to his right" I meant he goes there like 90% of the time... Sometimes he pulls a surprise or two... You get it.

yeah, that is his biggest problem but that will fade in time when he gets a better understanding on defence

It's a problem that Shawn Kemp had when he came into the league, one that unfortunately continued throughout his career. Hopefully Amare can grow out of it.
The Suns should also decide what to do with Gugliotta and Bo Outlaw - Amare displaced both of them when he became a fixture in the starting lineup, and neither is really suited to play centre, the position the Suns could really use an upgrade at. Googs has never really panned out the way the Suns hoped he would when they signed him prior to the 98/99 season - perhaps it's time to try and move him, rather than letting him waste away recording DNP-CDs.
