How about put Jamal at PG and Stephon at SG.

If you think Jamal has anything remotely resemblant to pass-first-shoot-second, you're going bananas.

put him on a team where he doesn't have top be the 1st or 2nd scoring option, that just may happen

he did ok when way back when he and jay williams played in a the same backcourt for the last weeks of the 2002 season

60 Million is alot, but kudos to the man if he gets it. Brown and Marbury would be interesting, and the first time Marbury actually has had a respected coach outside of Lenny Wilkens.

Larry Brown might be a bit bitchy, but he gets results. He and Iverson didn't get off to a good start, but they did produce results. He may even turn this whole thing into a clone of philly in 2001:
Nate = snow
Marbury = iverson
Jamal Crawford = Aaron Mckie

God knows how he'll get a ratliff equivilent. But I'm happy with the move.

Didnt Kobe and Phil Jackson argue when on the Lakers?

Players and coaches always have arguements. 99% of the time they get over it.

In that case, Jamal would have to shot a lot less. That team was based mostly about defense around AI scoring. You got scoring in Marbury (similar players) but the missing part is D.
It's still a good idea, but Brown should've work his ass off to make it work :P

Brown will put in a system to help the the knicks. If he feels that Crawford shooting less will help, he'll do that.

Remember when Brown got to philly, they had a starting lineup of eric montross,derrick coleman, stackhouse, jim jackson and iverson. Not much defense there either. But he made the right trades and before too long he had the Sixers in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Everywhere he has gone he has done similar work. From the Clippers to Indiana, Philly to San Antonio. It might take him a season or so to get the right players, but I can live with that rather than the quick fix solutions the pre-isiah management had in place.

The whole situation in Phily worked because Snow guarded SGs and Iverson PGs -> if you have a short 2 guard, you need a tall PG. Knicks don't have anyone who could play the role of Snow. Ideally, they would try to get someone like Jaric via sign&trade, but they would probably have to give away a bit too much.

Not neccesarily. Snow was 6'4, and marbury is about 6'2, 6'3. That isnt that much of a difference. Plus Marbury is very strong. If Larry Brown can motivate him on defense, he should be able to do the job. Also, it creates mismatches on the other end. If Marbury is guarding Butler, then Butler will probably pick him up defensively without being able to switch.

Somtimes you have to forget positions and play your best players.

Dont forget they still have Crawford if this doesnt work out with Nate. Crawford is a big guard who can play the point.

Marbury is strong, and Crawford may be tall, but none of them compares to the D that Snow had. They're still young, so maybe Brwon will motivate them as you say. I'm a fan of this idea, but we'll have to see how Larry coach the team.

Maybe Brown has nothing more to give to Detroit, so he decided to quit there?
NYK is a fresh environment to him, maybe his strategy may work for a year or two.
Then he might leave too. :lol:

Larry Brown didn't want to quit. How many times did he say he wanted to return? The pistons wanted him out to make Joe Dumars look good for drafting darko.

I guess one win away from 2 titles in 2 seasons just isnt enough. You have to make the team president look good as well.

And people talk about MJ's ego.

I thought the quarrel was with the team's majority owner (whose name escapes me at this moment) rather than Joe D, over the whole Cleveland situation during the playoffs.

Snow is a legit 6'4'', Marbury is semi-legit 6'2''. Yeah, he is strong and athletic, but you really can't compare these two. Snow was a tremendous defender back in his days, while Marbury is not even a good one. He doesn't even create havoc with his stealing, which was Iverson's method.
