SPURS returns to greatness

The San Antonio Spurs have signed Joel Anthony to a 10-day contract.

Anthony (6-9, 245) spent time in training camp with the Spurs appearing in six preseason games, averaging 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in 13.9 minutes before being waived Oct. 22.

The Spurs need depth at center with Pau Gasol out with a broken hand.

I think there may still be a few veterans out there or even a D-league call up that might be more exciting, but you just can't argue with greatness!

See, that's the difference between Kevin Durant and Joel Anthony. Durant disappears in the clutch during a 3-1 series meltdown, and joins forces with three other All-Stars on the team that beat him. Anthony embraces the challenge of not only replacing, but exceeding the legacy of, Tim Duncan.

What else can you say?

Nah, no change needed.

My life feels whole again.

I hear that Adam Silver is thinking of just naming the Spurs the champions tomorrow and taking an early vacation.

If New York had signed Joel Anthony, I would have fully stood behind Derrick Rose's words that they are a super team. Now, that title belongs to the Spurs.

I am a little bothered by the 10 day contract, though. It seems a little disrespectful.

Joel took the 10-day contract to see if the Spurs are worthy of his services

I think the 10 day contract was used as to not upset the other teams on the sudden shift of power. Had it been a multi-year contract, the other team might have forced the Silver to nullify the signing.

It's because 10 days is more than enough time for Joel to win the championship for the Spurs.

I believe Chuck Norris was sighted wearing a Joel Anthony jersey yesterday.

this is incredible, the GOAT is already averaging 28.8rbs per 36 minutes.

Ah, good point.

Wilt and Russell's Per 36 come close on a couple of occasions, but they're still a long way off. Also, no points yet; check out that unselfishness!

We know who's winning that matchup.

Do you know Joel is in fact nearly 60 years old and that Jordan begged him to sit out playing basketball for 20+ years so Jordan could have his time.

A crying shame, much like the Yinka Dare conspiracy.

Dare faked his own death to avoid a matchup with Joel Anthony.

Only because he knew he wouldn't ever get a fair run in the NBA. Did you see the way they doctored his stats from his rookie season? They didn't want his monumental performance overshadowing Michael Jordan's comeback, so they flat out erased it.
