The thread is inducted into that section for its own reasons (which should become apparent very quickly), but apart from that, it's kind of funny to look back on that discussion, given what happened in the years to follow. In fact, the very next season - since that was posted during the 2005 offseason - Wade led the Heat to the 2006 Championship. He certainly had more help than LeBron did, not the least of which was a guy by the name of Shaquille O'Neal.
We know what LeBron has done since, but I wanted to highlight this gem posted by Bang in that thread:
Bang wrote:Anyhow, the guys made their point. Even though LeBron did not make the playoffs and the playoff factor does factor in the voting, LeBron's stats were way too good to ignore. Let's just put LeBron in the Heat. Heat would've been holding a championship trophy right now I think? Or maybe not, but the fact is LeBron is too good, plus his popularity also helped win it. Furthermore, Carmelo Anthony had better stats AND made the playoffs
We did indeed get an answer to that question. Yes, putting LeBron on the Heat did make them a championship team...twice. Meanwhile, Bang hasn't logged in since 2007, presumably because he accurately picked some lottery numbers, and now has his own private island somewhere.
