At the end of the day Jeff made the decision to hire Kurt but i think it a more of a "thanks for the job" brownie points to Phil Jackson.

As long as Hornacek gets a fair chance in the job, I guess. Like I said, he's shown enough promise in his first gig that the hiring has potential. Just one of those cases where you might want to temper expectations.

All the knicks insiders say that Phil pressed hard for Rambis but the pressure from Dolan, Melo, media and fans made Jackson pick someone else here tho many say it was Dolan in Phils ear more than anything I still wouldn't be surprised to see Rambis named an assistant which is still stupid imo when the guy has achieved nothing coaching wise in this league but Phil acts like he's Tex Winters.

When Phil had individual meetings with players after the season, none of them gave Rambis a ringing endorsement either.

From what Hornacek said in the press conference he has always being good friends with Rambis from there time playing for the Suns and Rambis even asked him to join his coaching staff in Minny so I think Phil played us here by knowing if he hired Jeff then he would sure keep Rambis around so yeah Jackson wins this round I guess.
