I still feel that having the money ball rack is kind of cheap. On one hand, I guess the contest has to evolve and try new things, but at the same time, it's kind of like they realised that few competitors were coming close to the all-time records, and decided to find a way to manufacture some higher scores so that the records could be broken.
Still an impressive shooting display, of course. I mean, you have to get the job done with the rules and format you're playing under, and Thompson did just that, as Curry did last year. I'm just iffy on that change they've made. Like I said, it just feels a bit cheap.
We can put asterisks on them though. If you will follow the old format their 27s will just be 23s. Jason Kapono and Craig Hodges still have the record at 25.
I hate the money ball rack too. It just makes the game different. I suggest we separate eras between pre and post moneyball-rack when it comes to this event.
