http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow ... story.htmlDerek Fisher has been fired as the head coach of the New York Knicks, the team announced Monday.
Fisher won five NBA championships as a player with the Lakers. New York Knicks president Phil Jackson was Fisher's coach for all five of those titles.
The Knicks lost their fifth straight game Sunday, 101-96 to the Nuggets, and have lost nine of their last 10 games.
“It's time for us to make a change, turn this team around and move forward and get some wins and keep going down the road we had started here at the beginning of the year,” Jackson said at the team's practice facility Monday
Corymach, please have us list of potential coaches you think will be cool! Thanks.

Apparently
Dennis Rodman has expressed interest, so there you go.
With their current slide, the handwriting was probably on the wall. Despite the fact he was a heady player, and I guess something of a Phil Jackson protege, Fisher seemed out of his depth. Except perhaps when it came time to make bold proclamations, or strange comments about not running any plays.

I think mine tops mpt3's list.

Jackson apparently wants someone who will run the triangle.
You know he wants Luke Walton so fucking bad.
Red Holzman is my pick.

I imagine the "Phil to the sidelines" speculation has already begun in some circles.

At the moment, Thibs is probably like those Bieber fans who's wishing for a VIP pass since being a Knicks coach is his nirvana...

Guys, only players who have played for the knicks can be considered for coaching positions.
Iam pretty sure that's how things work.............

Played? How about play? Kristaps Porzinis, as per Corymach, has high basketball IQ, maybe he will be player-coach? lol
Tue Feb 09, 2016 5:59 pm
No, he's a bust.
Tue Feb 09, 2016 6:51 pm
So, in all seriousness...what's next for the Knicks? I suppose it's not unthinkable that Rambis ends up hanging around beyond this season, though as benji noted, Phil will probably want to take a run at Luke Walton.
Tue Feb 09, 2016 8:08 pm
There can only be one man and that man is Thibs!!!
He's being in NY before as an assistant so he knows the pressures as if he didn't already know that from his Chicago days, he isn't afraid to speak his mind to players or management demands the best from his players.
I just feel that if Jackson hires another player he coached that they would just be another puppet coach
Tue Feb 09, 2016 8:33 pm
Do you see him taking over himself? Personally, I have my doubts.
Thibbs would be a great hire for them.
Tue Feb 09, 2016 9:11 pm
Thibs would be great, but he doesn't run the triangle. I still wonder why Jackson doesn't want to coach.
Tue Feb 09, 2016 9:39 pm
He'll be 71 in September, and has had some health problems over the years.
Tue Feb 09, 2016 10:06 pm
Phil Jackson can't fly much due to health issues.
Andrew , I honestly don't think Thibs gets a shot at Coa gang the knicks as much as I think we need him. I think Phil rolls with one of his guys like Brian Shaw or holds out till the summer for Luke Walton.
Tue Feb 09, 2016 11:12 pm
He said Rambis would most likely coach the rest of the season.

Thibodeau would be my choice, but Knicks will never hire him. He's not one of Phil's guys, he won't take crap from Dolan, and he won't run that stupid triangle.

Why do you think Langston Galloway might be coach?
Wed Feb 10, 2016 8:37 am
We're overdue to see another player-head coach in the NBA, so sure, why not Melo or Galloway?

Good point about Phil likely not wanting to pursue Thibbs because he's not one of his guys. To that end, someone like Brian Shaw does seem like a distinct possibility. However, one would hope that he's learned from the way Fisher bombed that it might not be the best approach.

Different coach same team it seems vs the Wizards.
Low number of minutes played by the bench and they play Jose plenty when John Wall is blowing by him on every play.
