Free-flowing in that there isn't as much starting and stopping as in some other sports, unless there are a lot of infractions.

Last night's game between Jazz and Pistons was kinda interesting because of Gobert Drummond match up where their strength overlaps. Gobert ended up owning Drummond though.

But the real difference between these two big men really is that one shoots about 60% and the other shoots in 30% from the line. You can still play 60% ft shooter down the stretch in close games but you can't with 30%. It's funny because 60% still is a very bad number. 50% is borderline playable. 40% is just ugh, shouldn't belong in the NBA elites. What does that make Drummond?

I like what the Rockets did the other day. Should put pressure on Drummond as it's his flaw that's actually detrimental to the league and less of the teams exploiting it. He only made 1 for 10 last night though.

Iam fine with fouling a bad free throw shooter when he's close to the rim with the ball but I think the off ball fouls like the JJ Redick piggy back is taking it a bit to far and stopping the flow to the game.

But I also do still believe that players should be able to hit a fair amount of free throws.

Like Shaq said on TNT teams used to just wack crap out of him when he got the ball so he just worked on his shot and got it to about 70% so teams stopped doing it as much.

Shaq said he got his free throw percentage up around 70%? Well, he did hit 66% in 11 Playoff games with the Cavs in 2010, I guess.

I think that's what he was referring too Andrew, he mentioned that they put him to the line 3 straight times late in the game and he hit 5 straight

60% is the mendoza line? it's a 15ft uncontested shot. it's a fundamental skill taught to kids when they start playing. it's embarrassing for professional athletes to lack the skill.

each game coaching strategies exploit opponents weaknesses in other fundamental skills- full court/half court presses of poor ball handlers, attacking poor pick and roll defenders, sagging off poor shooters, etc... we don't make a stink of it because it doesn't stop the game.

sucks the hacking strategy interrupts the game flow but it's a legit option to consider.

Exactly. Shaq discouraged opponents by showing the hack-shaq tactic could backfire. Ben Wallace iirc had done it too in the playoffs. Rodman also. I am against giving this generation's elite bigs free passes. Make them suffer too and follow the precedence.

Ah OK, he's talking about specific times rather than the percentage of his overall totals. Fair enough, he did seem to back up the "I make them when I need to" declaration, at least on some occasions.
