The Spurs announced Wednesday they have signed the guard, who spent last season with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Selected No. 10 overall by Sacramento in the 2011 draft, Fredette has struggled to carve out a defined role in the NBA, serving short stints with the Pelicans and Chicago Bulls after his two-plus seasons with the Kings.

Baron Davis is attempting an NBA comeback.
The two-time All-Star, out of basketball since suffering a serious knee injury during the 2012 playoffs, said Tuesday he is eyeing a return to the league this season.
"This is the first time I'm going to put myself out there, I'm going to try out for some teams," Davis said in an interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
Davis, 36, is a 13-year veteran of the league with career averages of 16.1 points and 7.2 assists per game. But his numbers dropped significantly in 2011-12 while a member of the New York Knicks, as he averaged just 6.1 points and 4.7 assists in 29 games.
Then, in the playoffs, he suffered a partial tear of the patella tendon in his right knee and complete tears of the right ACL and MCL.

The Cleveland Cavaliers executed a minor trade with the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, helping set up a larger deal that will involve Brendan Haywood, sources told ESPN.com.
The Cavs sent center Rakeem Christmas, the No. 36 overall pick in June's draft, to the Pacers for a 2019 second-round pick owed by the Los Angeles Lakers. The trade gives the Cavs roster flexibility and an asset they can use to move Haywood and create a large trade exception in the next week.
After the trade, the Pacers and Christmas agreed to a four-year deal with the first two seasons guaranteed, sources said.
