Portland signs Aminu at $30 mil/4 years; maxing out Lillard

Free agent forward Al-Farouq Aminu reached agreement with the Portland Trail Blazers during the opening hour of free agency Tuesday night, he confirmed on Twitter.

ESPN sources say Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard are nearing agreement on a five-year max extension with in excess of $120 million

Lillard's still got a ways to go, but I don't think he's a bad investment. The price is steep, but I think he has talent worth gambling on.

A couple of years back, I picked Aminu to win MIP...it didn't go so well. It's not the worst contract we've ever seen and Aminu isn't devoid of any talent, but I'm not sure about that signing turning out to be a great investment. Seems like a lateral move at best after trading Batum, and that's taking into account Batum's slight drop-off; I'd be inclined to call it a downgrade, in all fairness.

Great deal getting Aminu. He's one of the best defenders at his position.

This is just unfortunate. Maxing Lillard is a no brainer but unattractive market teams like Portland ends up paying under average players like Aminu shit load of money. It's usually a gamble that doesn't pay off but you still need to fill the roster.

Portland is not going to able to make up for their loss this offseason. Not a fun season coming up.

So basically the Blazers replaced Matthews and Batum with Aminu and Henderson. Then you have Mason Plumlee in place of Robin and Aldridge.

Who plays the PF for the Blazers now? Vonleh then Aminu in small ball?

There is still a chance LMA stays and they are hoping to pair him up with Greg Monroe acc. to rumors.

Meyers Leonard aka Mr. 50-40-90 maybe? I know he is a center but he can be a stretch 4.

I think Donnie and Cubes knew this would happen that's why they picked Justin Anderson over Tyus Jones, a PG. Or even Jerian Grant if he was still available.

Happy for Aminu though. He'll prob start for them since Batum got traded
