Danny Ferry out in Atlanta; Mike Budenholzer to be coach/presidentThe Atlanta Hawks have reached a buyout agreement with general manager Danny Ferry, with current head coach Mike Budenholzer also assuming the role of head of basketball operations under the title of team president, league sources confirmed Thursday.
Assistant general manager Wes Wilcox will be elevated to general manager, sources said.
No surprise that Ferry has been shown the door, after the controversy last offseason. I guess Budenholzer will now have the opportunity to shape his roster as he sees fit.

Is he the first one to be a coach and a president at the same time?

The irony is that it was Danny Ferry who put together that team that played so well this season but he was nowhere near the team all year which was the right thing to do as there is no place in life for racism imo.
I am shocked that they have the whole team to coach Bud though.

Nope. Pat Riley (Heat) and Stan van Gundy (Pistons) come to mind.

Doc too with the Clips, I think.
Ferry fucked up, hope he gets another shot somewhere and it was an isolated incident reading from a report as has been said and not a realtime weirdo like Sterling.

Gregg Popovich was also once the Spurs' coach and GM/Vice President of Basketball Operations; not quite the same title, but more or less the same role. Similarly, Don Nelson was once the head coach and GM of the Mavericks. Different titles, but essentially the same power.
