NLSC Greatest of All-time: #0

Sat Jun 06, 2015 8:49 pm

-Second number of the many.

-#00 was won by Parish and really didn't even need a poll as it was just a formality.

-#0 has a few players that can seriously contend, as 5 of them will be nominated.

-You can vote for players in any way you want: On-court impact, Off-court impact, championships etc.

Nominees:

1. Gilbert Arenas (2001-02 to 2009-10)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWs/48
21.94.15.4.55311110920.6.139

* The gunslinger had a solid run with the Wizards, where he made the All-star team 3 times in a row. He won the NBA Most Improved Player award back in 2003 when he was still with the Warriors, and has 3 All-NBA team appearances (1 2nd, 2 3rds).

2. Russell Westbrook (2008-09 to 2014-15)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWs/48
22.45.67.6.52510810522.1.148

*Probably the best player on this list. Although he gets criticized for taking too many shots and not being efficient on offense, you can't deny his great raw stats. It will be interesting to see how will the chemistry between him and teammate Kevin Durant develop next year. Westbrook has 4 All-star appearances under his belt, as well as being in the All-NBA second team 4 times, with winning the NBA scoring title this year.

3. Orlando Wooldridge (1981-82 to 1990-91)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWs/48
21.25.82.5.57811211117.4.117

4. Damian Lillard (2012-13 to 2014-15)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWs/48
19.83.76.0.55811210918.5.138

*One of the rising stars today. 2-time crybaby NBA All-star and an All-NBA 3rd teamer, Lillard is set to be one of the best 2nd tier point guard in the league for years to come.

5. Jeff Teague (2009-10 to 2014-15)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWs/48
16.12.97.0.54310710616.8.116

*His Hawks exploded then imploded this year. He was a major part of their success. One of the best point guards in the east with 1 All-star appearance, Teague should continue to be a solid point guard for the next few years.

Other Notable Player Shoutout

Shawn Marion Wore #0 in Dallas where he won an NBA title, but it was past his prime. He was still a great rebounder for his position. Kevin Love just staring wearing the number in Cleveland. He'll clearly move up in the ranks if he continues to produce at the level he has so far. Andre Drummond is another player who'll clearly be amongst the best ever to wear #0. He just started wearing it this year.

I voted for Orlando Woolridge mainly because he was a force for so many years in the league but then you also have Agent zero who I was a huge fan of back in the day.

Westbrook is a great player but is nowhere near finished and I think one day he will be the best #0 if we were to make a list like this in 10 years time.

I voted Woolridge but now iam thinking Gilbert Arenas....

Looking at how many years he played in the league with 8 really good years before the gun drama killed his career....

i am giving my vote to westbrook but doubting myself while doing it. woolridge is damn close if not actually better

Westbrook for me. Although Arenas and Woolridge certainly had solid NBA careers, Westbrook is slightly ahead of them by now and maybe looking to widen that gap as the years pass.

Woolridge was a decent role player on drugs. Westbrook all the way

It wasn't the gun that took away hibachi's best years

I voted for Dame.

I don't like Russell much, so I voted my favorite player

I can't wait until we hear something like "Voted for Kwame Brown, I have no idea who Horace Grant is."
I feel old.

For now, I'll go with Westbrook, though give it a few more years and Lillard could have a better case in an interesting discussion.

Out of those 5 I went with Westbrook just barely over Dame...

Went with Damien because I think he hasn't peaked yet and has played better so far than Westbrook in his first 3 years. I hope to see him continuing to develop well.

Went with Westbrook instead of Arenas. I feel like he'll get even more better every season

Westbrook already figured out his potential and I reckon those performances late in the season will be a normal sight (especially when he force Durant out of OKC) so he's my pick over Arenas (who is pretty much a one dimensional player) and Lillard (who's obviously a less superior player to Westbrook)...
