Report: Rockets intend to re-sign Francisco Garcia

The Houston Rockets have their starters at the wing spots, but who do they trust to back them up?

James Harden and Trevor Ariza will be the guys getting the bulk of the minutes at the two and three slots. To potentially back them up there is a list of guys but none really wow you: Nick Johnson, Kostas Papanikolaou, not to mention Alonzo Gee and Robert Covington but neither of those two have guaranteed deals.

The Rockets may want someone they know and trust. Like Francisco Garcia. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle tweeted this out in a Q&A.

That's their plan and his, but no agreement on deal yet RT @rjanssen37: @Jonathan_Feigen is it true that the rockets re sign fransico garcia—

Not sure what there is to haggle over, Garcia made $1.3 million last year and should be on a veteran minimum contract.

Garcia will space the floor — almost 66 percent of his shots last season came from three and hit hit a solid 35.8 percent on them. That kind of three point specialist has a place on a team with Dwight Howard in the paint and the slashing James Harden.

Garcia doesn't bring a whole lot else to the table but he’s a solid veteran player. He’s a long defender who does a decent job. Basically he’s a decent reserve as long as you don’t lean on him too much. At the minimum price he’s a better fit than some of the guys they've got.
Rest In Peace Kobe
