Rashard to Mavs

Free agent forward Rashard Lewis has agreed to a one-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks, his agent told Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears.

Lewis averaged a career-low 4.5 points per game on 41.5 percent shooting for the Miami Heat last season, but he wound up starting eight games in the playoffs. The 34-year-old will help space the floor for a Mavericks team that, outside of Dirk Nowitzki, has a bunch of big men who lack range. He probably won't have a huge role, but he will be able to hit threes in a pinch.

At this point in his career, he's hardly a marquee acquisition. Still, worth a shot for the price of a one year, presumably minimum deal (or close to it). If he can come in and hit a few threes to spark some runs for them as he did on occasion with the Heat, he's a worthwhile pickup.
