Definitely a good read, I like the analogy.

sorry for bumping this thread, but i just can't stop laughing for the people who said that the magic are the loser in this trade.

Bynum? gone.
Iguodala? gone.
Dwight?
Magic? Vucevic and Harkless emerging as a good young core of talents

Only time could tell and Rob Hennigan is really smart.

The Magic are still the losers since in a few years those talented players will move out of town like what Shaq, T-Mac, and Dwight did.

At the time, none of the first three things you mentioned had happened. If nothing else, the Nuggets won a franchise best 57 games and probably would've at least made it out of the first round if not for a couple of injuries and some great performances by Stephen Curry. The Magic have a couple of good, promising young players moving forward, but they're still at the bottom of the league, nowhere near as good as they were during Dwight Howard's tenure.

As far as the talent changing hands at the time is concerned, the Magic did not get the best of the deal. There is, however, potential of the future.

I am referring to your post saying Iggy, Bynum, and Dwight being gone from their traded teams, which will eventually happen to any good players the Magic have.
Not to mention those young players are still in the Magic because they are still in their rookie contracts unlike Iggy, Dwight, and Bynum.

For the teams who taken the risks for trading who they'd liked to get. That's why I call them the losers for that trade. Where are they now? Just like the Lakers trading for Dwight, they traded for nothing.

But even if they 'won' the trade the Magic are still losers, as in losers.
Even that potential for the future can be ignored since the Magic have a bad history of keeping talent.

LMAO, hard to say anyone was the winner in that trade. Seems everyone's a loser who ever played in that game.

So who really benefitted the most from the trade so far? The Rockets are one. Who else? Perhaps the Warriors depending on how the chemistry pans out. Possibly Harrison Barnes cock blocker is Iggy though.

Hindsight is also 20/20. Had Iggy stayed in Denver, Bynum been healthy and the Lakers not hired D'Antoni, things might have worked out better all around (or at least for a couple of teams). The fact that those players have moved on and their former teams are now looking at Plan B may mean that you can call the Magic winners of the trade now, simply because they have some players left from the deal, but at the same time they're not exactly big winners. They're not that much better off and while they have a couple of players with potential, they are far from stars.

For one year at least, the Nuggets seemed to benefit the most from it but yeah, no one's come out of it in tremendous shape or looking like a title contender or anything. At the end of the day, it was a deal that allowed everyone to move on and take a chance on something new.

for now, yes the magic are really the losers by the departure of Dwight Howard and thanks for that, no more drama. They will suck when Dwight leaves as what we expected. But in that 4-team trade, they made their future secured and in the right spot.

Funny how the Thunder traded Harden for Martin, then the Thunder lost Martin to the T'Wolves anyway. Houston is somewhat on a roll in terms of player acquisitions.

As much as I hate Howard's guts right now. Houston is the best place for him, I sincerely hope Olajuwon and McHale can teach him some real post move moves and footwork. If/When that happens, it would be a good thing for the NBA in general.

As for the Lakers, (though it looks improbable) I think it would be better for them if they can land somebody like Hibbert or Monroe.
