Chamique Holdsclaw faces up to 65 years in prison

Thu Feb 28, 2013 3:32 pm

The story via Yahoo! NBA:

In November, former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw was arrested after a violent incident involving an ex-girlfriend. According to reports, Holdsclaw followed Jennifer Lacy (her ex and teammate with the Atlanta Dream in 2009) in her car, smashed windows in Lacy's car with a baseball bat, and even fired a gunshot into the car while Lacy was still inside. It was an awful, disturbing story involving a woman who was once the biggest name in her sport.

On Wednesday, Holdsclaw was indicted on charges related to this incident.

Insane. I don't follow the WNBA but I remember SLAM Magazine hyping her up a whole lot back in the day. If I recall correctly, they even put her on one of their covers, wearing a Knicks jersey.

Up to 65 years for 2 aggrevated assaults? I think she's gonna serve couple year tops. But it sounds like an attempted murder as shots were fired into the car. Depends which part I guess...

One time I looked at tons of the WNBA content on B-R.

Holdsclaw wasn't that good, but did play pretty well for three years or so (this is standard for WNBA, half like everything in the NBA in terms of careers) and she had tons of NCAA hype which is probably what Slam was writing about back when everyone was basically told to justify its existence.

That said, aside from lesbians being lesbians (and thus scary when they break up), there are a few WNBA players who I think could have played in the NBA because they just shit all over the WNBA.

Lauren Jackson for example. She once posted a .500 WS/48. Here's how insane that is, WS operates essentially as a % of the league so there's a finite maximum every season. The best official NBA season is Jordan in 1990-91 at .321 and him and LeBron have a few .300+ seasons. The Admiral has one close, Wilt and Kareem probably would have some. Jackson not only has 8 WNBA seasons over .325 but four over .400.

That's cute and all but when Reggie Evans would be grabbing her tits while defending her win shares wouldn't mean jack.

Can't blame Evans in that scenario, I wouldn't mind grabbing her myself.

I have yet to see any evidence that Reggie Evans has interest in females.
