NBA announces deal to broadcast D-League games live on YouTube

The NBA and YouTube announced a deal to stream live more than 350 D-League games during the 2012-13 season, b0th through a dedicated YouTube channel and through a video player on NBA.com.

From the official release:

“As a result of today’s announcement, the NBA D-League, the NBA’s official minor league, will feature the most live games on YouTube by a major professional sports league.”

Yeah, 'cause most of them have actual TV deals or proper dedicated streaming services.

No, because it does millions of other things, and is therefore by definition not a dedicated streaming service.

I would also be very surprised if it had the same capabilities as even NBL TV, much less NBA TV.

I'd rather have a consistent high-quality streaming service than a dedicated one

Presumably there'll be a channel or feed of some sort that'll be dedicated to streaming D-League games. If we're not calling that a "proper" dedicated streaming service, it's going to at least function very similar to one. Considering that YouTube has done plenty of live streams of movie premieres, concerts and other events, I think they'll have the tech in place to make it a decent experience for anyone looking to watch the D-League.
