Cuban: "No chance" Mavs retire Jason Kidd's number

Feel bad for J.Kidd... Mark Cuban should appreciate that Kidd helped bring him his first trophy. Then again, Mark Cuban is quite the outspoken guy. The decision to retire J.Kidd's number or not should have remained within the organization.

Ah, gotcha. On that I certainly agree; while it's his right to not only feel that way but also to speak out as he did, it's a situation where he probably should've let a cooler head prevail and just fumed quietly rather than making such a blunt proclamation to the media.

Maybe it's the same with Kidd's number as it was with Rodman's and Nellie's trip to the HoF. It took some time but they finally got there...

Saying what he said, perhaps, but I see no reason he can't say they won't be retiring Kidd's number if he's made that decision and someone asks that question. And the notion of deciding to retire a number and not announcing it just boggles the mind.
