Blake Griffin to miss Olympics

Postby Sideshow Bob on Fri Jul 13, 2012 3:03 pm

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has been diagnosed with a medial meniscus tear of his left knee and, according to a Los Angeles Times report, will likely will have arthroscopic surgery early next week.

The Times, citing NBA executives, reports Griffin is expected to miss eight weeks, but should be fully recovered by the start of Clippers training camp in October.

Damn sucks.. But hasn't he had an injury similar his (1st real) rookie season?

No he broke his left kneecap during in a pre season game of the season which should have been his rookie season. That was far more serious compared to his current injury. But it is the same knee he injured...

Anthony Davis called up to replace him. Amazing that he could be an Olympic gold medallist before even playing a professional game in the NBA.

Something Christian Laettner did before him...

Not to mention the countless others before 1992. ;)

That's a shame, but hopefully he can recover by the start of the season. His prominence in the highlight reels seems to be attracting a growing hatedom, but for my money he's an exciting player to watch with a bright future in the league. You never want to see anyone injured like that, least of all a rising star who's that fun to watch and with so much promise.

Watch out Durant, 2k curse is coming for you! Selfishly, I'm someone glad about this because I'm curious how Anthony Davis or whoever the replacement is does though.

Anthony Davis got lucky  other than the boss throwdowns Griffin would've been doing, I think I'm a little more excited to see how Davis plays, in however many minutes he's given.

Has there ever been a player on an Olympic team who was yet to play a professional game in their life? Anthony Davis got lucky as fuck. He is gonna get to enjoy that gold medal.

This is one of the things that always bothered me about Blake Griffin. He is so big and jumps so high, the wear and tear must be enormous. Especially the way he dunks it. He rarely hangs on the rim, usually coming down hard.

And everyone before 1992. Bill Russell notably won a college title, Olympic gold medal and NBA championship within the span of a year.

Not the most gruesome injury we've ever seen, but a pretty painful looking collision and fall. Ouch. :?
