Jerry Sloan wants to coach again and is interested in the vacancies with the Charlotte Bobcats and Orlando Magic, according to a Salt Lake Tribune report.
Sloan, who resigned during the 2011 season after 23 seasons with the Utah Jazz, told the paper that he has spoken to Bobcats owner Michael Jordan, and could meet with him this week.
On Tuesday, Sloan told Fox Sports Florida that he had interest in the Magic job. He called the position "intriguing" despite uncertainty regarding star center Dwight Howard and a vacant general manager position after Otis Smith was fired.
The Bobcats, who won an NBA-worst seven games last season, present a tougher challenge.
"Obviously, you probably wouldn't win (a title) right off the bat," Sloan told the Tribune. "But sometimes it's not all about starting on top."
That'd be a great move for either of them to make. There's not too much for him to work with in Charlotte, but they've got a couple of promising young players and another lottery pick this year. If he's willing and given the opportunity to stick around for a few years, if Rich Cho can work some magic and draft well, they could perhaps finally build towards respectability.
Orlando provides a more appealing opportunity to helm a respectable team much sooner, though it remains to be seen whether Dwight Howard would be on board with that move.
