http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... oin_LakersDamn he returns. Hope he can be somewhat meaningfully productive.

If he indeed in good shape, he's not a terrible pickup. He might be able to give them a good 10-15 minutes on some nights, a little extra depth in the frontcourt. It doesn't address all of their issues but it's a low risk move.

Im just glad we will get to see him again. I dont like seeing big names you have known for a long time leave the league..

FOR REAL!?! I like it, especially if he's stayed in shape.

Love me some Sheed. Only guy missing from the NBA is Allen Iverson.

I'm glad Sheed's back in the league.
Not sure how he's going to help the Lakers, seeing as they have enough jump-shooting bigs in Troy Murphy, Gasol, McBob, and now Sheed.
Maybe he's just insurance for Bynum's knees.

If Iverson comes back, I'm expecting another MJ comeback.

I am excited for the Lakers. He's only 37 and if in good shape, should be a great second big off the bench. And should bring some leadership in the locker room as a veteran too.
Do you guys think he'll continue to be up there in technical foul category though? I don't think he could afford it this time around.

Hard to be up in that category when he hasn't played half of the season.

so pau is being moved for a pg i presume. sessions?
Sat Feb 25, 2012 7:15 pm
Why would you presume that? Sheed's a backup.

Surely not. Acquiring Sessions isn't a bad idea, so long as it doesn't take Pau to do so.

everybody's been clamoring for a PG even though they have 2 decent PGs. Blake should definitely be starting though.
sheed would work in Murphy's spot in the rotation though... backing up both Bynum & Pau at the 4/5

Sheed's no center, he is more or less PF only. I'd rather have him as a backup for Pau and would move Pau to center and Sheed to PF if Bynum's on the bench.
Mon Feb 27, 2012 12:00 am
And what would be the difference from Sheed as backup for Bynum and Sheed at center and Pau at PF?

Sheed tends to shot the ball even more than Pau. He loves 3pt shooting and wasn't the most physical guy during the last few years + Pau's the better rebounder. If Sheed hasn't changed so much, he's simply less physical than Pau and the worse choice for a center.

That really has nothing to do with my question.
You aren't forced to "guard" or "play against" the player on the opposing team of the same position.
As an aside, using three pointer bombers to draw out inside players has been a long honored tradition.

That's why Channing Frye is playing Pf instead of C by now?

But I agree, that defensive and offensive roles could differ. Anyway, I would not use Sheed as a Center on the defensive end if I have also Pau on the floor...
