The Charlotte Bobcats Thread

Postby rise on Fri Dec 24, 2010 8:05 am

Well, I could find a Bobcats thread from the last year or two, so here's the official Charlotte Bobcats thread!

A lot's been happening to the Bobcats lately and apparently more is coming: A bunch of crappy moves in the offseason (trading Chandler for nothing, letting Felton walk to New York - both are having All-Star seasons!), Larry Brown steps down, Paul Silas trying to change the team's style of play, MJ screwing shit up, trade talks are brewing, etc...

Here are the latest trade rumors:

 Carroll, Augustin, Diop, for Baron Davis
 Bobcats trying to get Devin Harris. Again.
 Augustin and Wallace for Camby and Miller (STUPID)
 Captain Jack and G-Force may both be on the trade block
 Talk about Melo to Bobcats

What do you think?

The one for the Baron would be the best, Augustin wouldn't get a lot of playing time behind B-Diddy anyway.

Melo to the Bobcats is stupid. If G-Force stays, what would he play, PF? Then they get undersized.

I doubt Melo's going to the Bobcats, the Nets or Knicks still appear more likely at this point. The Davis trade strikes me as the most likely, it might not work out too bad if a change of scene can rejuvenate him.

Baron trade is turrible because DJ Augustin is cheaper, younger and actually a far better player. Augustin has actually been one of the only bright spots on the Lolcats. Dunno why he's the scapegoat, while captain Chuckson and Diawful get free rides.

Let's give them half a dozen games under Silas first before we go trading their players.

And if they are out of ideas they can just check my Live '05 Dynasty to show them what they should have done

Bobcats are thinking about Rip Hamilton as well.

http://www.mlive.com/pistons/index.ssf/2010/12/ford_charlotte_bobcats_have_ge.html

Honestly, I don't worry too much about how undersized our roster would be moving Gerald Wallace to power forward, Gerald is 6'7, Jack is 6'8, Rip is 6'7, so trading Boris Diaw for Rip or something like that, wouldn't leave us much smaller than before. Diaw is 6'8, so Wallace moving to PF is only one inch shorter there, we actually gain an inch playing Jack at SF, and Rip has great height to play SG, so size really shouldn't be too much of an issue. Out of all the trade rumors swirling around right now, this is my favorite for the Bobcats.

Bobcats show mark of Jordan

I wouldn't put drafting Adam Morrison in the same class as drafting Kwame Brown in terms of his front office shortcomings. Morrison was a noteworthy college player and a top prospect who wasn't raw like Kwame. At the time he was a sensible enough pick and I would suggest nowhere near as risky as taking Kwame first overall in 2001; he just turned out to be a bust as a pro, another top college player that couldn't make the transition.

Bending to Larry Brown's whims certainly screwed them over though.

The Davis trade rumor might happen. http://www.gacksports.com/10971/nba-trade-rumor-baron-davis-to-charlotte-bobcats/
We should try to get a little more from LAC than just Davis. Maybe a halfway decent role player along with Davis.

Another trade rumor! I love this one!!!!!! Seems a little unlikely though...

Boris Diaw to orlando for Jason Richardson!!! http://dimemag.com/2010/12/nba-trade-rumor-boris-diaw-to-orlando-for-jason-richardson/
This would be sick though, imagine a starting lineup of Thomas, Wallace, Jackson, Richardson, and Augustin. Nice right?

I'd say go for Harris not Davis, bobcats need young exciting players who can score, and Davis is no scorer, at least not like Devin harris is. I also think that Augustine and Wallace for Camby and Miller, decent trade and i think both teams would get a fair deal. Although Camby is almost ready for retirement.

Whatever the bobcats do, please don't trade Augustine for Davis, if for anybody, trade him for Andre "The Ironman" Miller.

I don't understand why people think the Portland trade rumor is good at all for the Cats. Trading Wallace and Augustin, our franchise player and our only halfway decent, up-and-coming point guard, for two guys in their mid-30s? I would've liked the idea of bringing in Camby and Miller five years ago, get a real solid point guard and a great rebounder, but three years down the road, I don't see either of them contributing or (in Camby's case) even being in the NBA at all. I would support a trade that would send Boris Diaw, Nazr Mohammed, DJ Augustin, and Gerald Henderson for those two though. It would not be worth sending Wallace for those two.

Well in a way its good that you might be getting a nice passer in Miller and a decent shot blocker in Camby, but not good for the bobcats since they'd be trading their future and one of my favorite cats, D.J. Augustine, and a good defender in Wallace. But the cats need another scorer besides Jackson, why they'd be trading Jackson, i'll never know, unless its to get a better player.

The ESPN trade machine is officially retarded. I tried the J-Rich Diaw trade to see how it would work out, put Eduardo Najera to balance the $, and the thing says -2 wins for bobcats

It's bizarre that Orlando would be looking to trade Jason Richardson less than a month after acquiring him and Boris Diaw's not really a player that they need. If it were to happen however, it would be second time Richardson and Diaw have been traded for one another.

Oh yeah, J-Rich came to Phoenix from Charlotte when Diaw went to Charlotte! Forgot about that.

Orlando really does need some help at the top, but I'm not quite sure Diaw's the answer, as you said, Andrew. I'd still like to see J-Rich in Charlotte again. I never went to a game or for that matter even watched a game with Wallace and Richardson playing together, because I really only got back into following basketball two years ago.

Gerald Wallace will sit out a few more games with his sprained ankle.

Also, we've lost Desagana Diop for the remained of the season with an Achilles injury.

On offense he sucks. He's not a completely useless defender. He blocks shots.

But other than that, yes he sucks.

We were winning for a while in the first and second quarters, now we're down by double-digits. Big surprise.

Seems Gerald Wallace is being traded to Portland. Absolute shitty trade for the Cats.

It's either Miller + others for Wallace or Przybilla + picks+ other for Wallace.

Both are stupid. Augustin's played great this season, so we don't really need the aging Miller, and Joel Przybilla would consider retirement if he gets traded anywhere, not to mention Gerald is better than either of those guys and they already have Batum and Aldridge occupying the positions Gerald plays. If Miller were to be traded they'd have a gaping hole at the point. There's only patty Mills there.

Some sources are saying done deal, but others aren't sure yet. I really hope we don't trade away our best player for shit that will retire.
