They know the truth. That David Andersen was the best Rocket last season. Too bad they sent him to Toronto in the wilderness.

Last season

1. David Andersen
2. Chris Rock
25. Trevor Ariza

As for this season

1. Yao Ming
2. Luis Scola

As for topic question, I gotta say that Martin is a solid starter but not an All-Star.

Good idea. I'm a good fan, but I don't know all the detailed stats. That, you have to ask benji.

Anyway, let me first say that I really like Kevin Martin's game. He's very efficient, he can shoot the ball well, he gets to the line at will which is probably his biggest strength like you said, but his defense is atrocious. He can be a solid starter on most NBA teams, but he's not All-Star material.

If Scola isn't in the Rockets, then Martin would absolutely play much better.

Wrong. If Scola isn't on the team, then more attention would be on Martin which essentially means more defense on him.

Maybe he would average 30 a night because he'd be carrying all the scoring load so coach would give him a lot of minutes.

Still wrong. Why in the hell should he be carrying ALL the scoring load? The following players are also on the roster and are capable of scoring 20 points a night. Aaron Brooks. Yao Ming. Chase Budinger. There's no reason for him to be carrying all the scoring load. Most of it maybe, but not all.

He's great at getting fouls that leads to free-throws(one of his strengths)

I won't argue on this. He's great at drawing fouls but so as the other good players in the league. He has to be able to do more than this to be an All-Star, especially playing GOOD defense.

w/o Scola, the lane would be unclogged thus leading to open lanes to the basket which Martin will use for driving to the basket for easy points or drawing fouls.

What makes you think the lane would be unclogged without Scola? So you think the other teams will just give Martin an open lane to the basket without the presence of Scola? There's no such things as "easy points" unless it's a great pass or a fastbreak. The defense isn't going to give Martin an open lane, with or without Scola.

Scola haven't missed a game since he's been in the NBA. Martin played 61, 51, and 46 in 07, 08 and 09, respectively. He's as injury prone as T-Mac.

Kevin Martin is good, he's not great. You tell me why he always disappear in the fourth quarter. He's fucking unclutch.

Damn right, dare. What you've said so far in this thread is right on, except for the Monta Ellis part. (Y)

Seriously, at.the.buzzer!!, you have a Rondo avatar and you're homering Kevin Martin? I have a Kevin Martin signature and I don't think he's an all-star or should be one. He can be a solid starter for most teams in the league, but there are just too many guards in the West that are better, and that actually PLAY defense.

Andersen was atrocious last season. Apart from a few good games, he's nothing special, and he fits right in in Toronto, a perimeter big man who can't play defense. :)

Axel's avatar is more deserving of an All-Star nod than Kevin Martin.

I agree with Axel. and Modifly. Don't you ever say that Scola is a bad player. And also, Martin has some help in the scoring load, not like your Rondo. Rondo can't score, can he?

Me too. It's just that he's bad in the defensive end. I think I kinda overrated him last season.

I'm glad you guys agree that David Andersen is the best :)

He's just chilling in Toronto right now you know. Biding his time until they call him to be the star player he really is. (Y)

Rockets is the team that they need to go to playoffs. Blazers is not the team to go to playoffs. If a team has some stars but they are unable to go to playoffs, this is really, REALLY bad. Martin and Scola...Scola for MIP and Martin for All-Star!
