2010 Hall of Fame Finalists Announced

Postby Andrew on Sat Feb 13, 2010 8:22 am

Story @ Yahoo! NBA

Two-time NBA MVP Karl Malone, six-time champion Scottie Pippen, and two of the great U.S. Olympic champions are finalists for the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.

The 1992 Dream Team, which Malone and Pippen played on along with superstars such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, is a finalist in the team category. Also up for induction is the 1960 gold medalists, a team led by Hall of Famers Jerry West and Oscar Robertson that won its games in Rome by 42.4 points per game.

Returning finalists include Chris Mullin, another Dream Teamer, Dennis Johnson, coach Don Nelson and four-time WNBA champion Cynthia Cooper.

Pippen and Malone are locks. I'd say the 1992 Dream Team gets the nod in the team category, Don Nelson takes the coaching spot and Cynthia Cooper gets in first ballot as well. Assuming they select one more NBA player on top of that, I'll say Dennis Johnson finally gets in.

I want to see Mullin there. He's been fucked up the ass way too much in the last couple of years. He kinda deserves this.

It'd be funny to see him and a drunk Don Nelson up there.

I thought Rodman should have been there as well, but I kind of knew he wouldn't. Glad Pippen is though, he was always one of my favourite players.

If they can hold DJ out for as long as they have done, I'm sure they'll wait until they really can't overlook Rodman any longer before giving him serious consideration.
